| PLOT |
Julian, Zeke and their friends are a
group of high school seniors with nothing much to
do. They live the typical teen lifestyle until Julian's
uncle brings something unnatural back to town.
Uncle Charles works for the Mega Corporation Hybratech,
conducting inhumane experiments on human test subjects
with a mutated chemical compound called Trioxyn-5.
This chemical re-animates the dead.
It all amounts to trouble when Zeke finds himself
as one of the test subjects, and his not entirely
capable friends attempt to rescue him. As the kids
break into the facility they find and release more
zombies than they can handle. The worst is in store
for the kids when they discover that Uncle Charles'
favorite test subjects turn out to be Julian's parents
who have been mechanically mutated into uber zombies.
The rescue mission has some deadly and often humorous
consequences for the kids. |

| • Tobe Hooper had once
been named director, but that was never officially
finalized. Talks were said to have also been had with
Stuart Gordon to get in the director's chair. |
| • Writer William Butler
has been quoted (2003), "We're writing these films
as fans. I'm having so much fun! They are the zombie
movies that I grew up with. We really pay homage to
the first [ROTLD] film, and we want to get many of
the original cast back for cameos, especially Thom
Mathews and James Karen." |
| • Release date was originally
going to be December 2002 and was originally subtitled
Necropolis. That was scrapped and it was then
titled Rave From the Grave. Now that title
has been given to part 5, while part 4 has been re-subtitled
Necropolis. It was a previous possibility that
the Necropolis story could be its own separate
film. |
| • William Butler played
Tom in the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead
and Ryan in Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre

| • In 2001, writer William
Butler told Fangoria magazine, "I'm reinventing the
franchise. My take on the sequel is a combination
of martial arts, anime and horror. [Executive producer
Tom Fox] would like to get a Dawson's Creek cast in
there this time, and we are beginning to talk with
directors." |
