    Exactly. Seconds, not minutes. I agree 100%.
    As you said, UFC is a sport. Not to take away from those guys though. They are obviously great athletes and very tough men. But they train within the confines of match rules and I think that would be fairly limiting in self defence.

    Also I thinbk when people think of grappling they think of UFC which is very different to the type of grappling I've done. My instructor was about 5'6" and a regular build. Though very fit he was definitely no powerhouse. He was very capable of taking down someone like me, 6'4" and very large framed. He is a deadly little dude.

    The Kempo I did was actually a type of Okinawan Karate. Though it's probably more like Kung Fu than what most people think of as Karate. I think what most people know as Kempo is more of a Japanese Karate which generally are striking styles.

    We used pressure points extensively. Attacking the nerves and causing limbs to buckle whether they wanted to or not. In fact there were alot of wrist techniques that worked alot better on really strong people. If we found we had to struggle physically or pour on the strength to get a move to work, it meant we weren't doing it correctly.

    I've trained in the past at a school that was a combination of jujutsu and kickboxing and my most previous school was a mix of jujustu and Ryukyu Kempo which focuses alot on using arm and wrist locks. I learnt moves similar to the one in the video you posted. I haven't trained for years though since I moved out of Melbourne.

    Interesting. I guess I can see why they would do that. I mean, if there ever comes a time where your country is invaded, I'd rather have a large number of somewhat trained civilians than just whoever has a gun.
