A world without women is a world I don't want to live in :) My dad has even said himself that if he wasn't with my mum he probably wouldn't be alive. Generally I think people who are "mature" and "grown up" when they reach middle age were probably already like that to an extent. When I was a kid I always thought that becoming an adult meant automatic confidence, maturity and decisiveness. That things would just fall into place. How very wrong and naive I was. In fact I think I had more confidence and decisiveness as a kid than as an adult, mainly because I thought I knew everything and that people who don't agree with me are just dumb. Now I know better and am aware of the different views and ways to approach life, it's hard to know what to believe and which direction to go sometimes. I had very few doubts about life, people and the world as a kid. But then I suppose when you're looked after by parents that probably isn't hard to manage.

She actually says she doesn't feel the difference between now and when she was 30. She eats really well and is still very active. I wouldn't be surprised if she outlived me. My dad is the polar opposite. My mum is active, healthy and has a really positive outlook and my dad is a run down, cynical wreck who's probably still alive only because my mum makes him eat healthy meals all the time. At 50 your mum's still practically a spring chicken. :) It blows me away sometimes though when I think about the fact that in less than 13 years I'll be 50. It's bizarre. I'm having trouble accepting that I'm almost middle aged. Not that I really feel old or it stresses me too much but when I think about it it kinda spins me out.

Yeah. Life is zooming by. Last I remember i was 15. Now here I am, 37. Old enough to be the dad of any of the younguns on this site. Pretty much almost old enough to be your dad really. How depressing. ;-) Ah well. Hope isn't lost. My mum's 64 and she's still going strong. She's a nurse and still works night shift at an oldies home. She's practically one of them though, age wise at least, but she's not slowing down yet.

I know how you feel, I know Im not old and neither are you, but its amazing to look at the younger generations that come after you...it just really a reality check. Its easy to forget how short life is. not to be a debbie downer or anything :)
