I had to start a topic on the silent weapons. Bows can be made rather easily and so can arrows. Cross Bows are harder to make but bolts can be made out of anything. You may only get one shot, but its better then ringing the dinner bell. I think even with a gun I would always carry a long bow, its perfect for stealth kills if you do not want to get up close and personal with a zombie. Any thoughts? .....

Haven't really used any type of bow myself, but they're not exactly the easiest thing to be pinpoint accurate with, especially if it's an older one or one that's home made. May be nice for someone that knows how to use it well, but I wouldn't trust myself with one.
Crossbows on the other hand are much simple to use, but they aren't exactly silent. Some can get pretty loud actually. Sure, they may not be as loud as a gunshot, but you get the point.

I can use a bow pretty well, but I dont know if I would take one for zombie warfare.

Only downside is the rate of fire so if you have a bunch of zombies to deal with it's not best weapon to use.

She's definitely quick, but I wonder how fast she could be when it's multiple moving targets.

I like bows, never fired a crossbow before but it cant be too much different than firing a rifle. Im pretty good at that I suppose.

She may not have the accuracy to make headshots at that speed but when they showed the "target" area she seemed to be hitting in about the same spot most times. I think she would be capable of hitting humans in the torso at least. Maybe not ideal for a ZPAW but still pretty impressive.

That bow that she's shooting isn't even hunting weight...Probably would just bounce off a skull.
Aside from that, a bow takes a long time to master, I've been shooting longbows for almost 20 years.
Use the bow for hunting food, not for zombie defense unless you have no choice.

Ummmm... yeah, with her feet, dude
But I think the point of the vid is more about her hotness and flexibility than whether she's an awesome zombie slayer.

Yeah, because she's in front of a gigantic live audience on national television. I'm sure the network's insurance would pitch a fit if she accidentally shot a real arrow into the audience. If you're not impressed, feel free to replicate the feat. :-p

Not really, what would be impressive is if she shot a zombie that way...I might even clap a little...
We are talking about using bows as weapons in a ZPAW right?
Practicing one shot a thousand times does not make one a marksman, it makes you good at one shot.

I'm not sure how effective a bow would be, for a deer your kill range is going to be around 40-50ft and that's with a composite bow, maybe a little further if you have a really heavy draw weight, but thing is when you are killing a deer with a bow you are aiming for the lungs, puncture the lungs track the deer til he dies. I've never heard of anyone killing a deer with a headshot and its generally considered a very poor shot if you go for any thing other than a broadside lung shot as it wont kill the deer.
Point is, I'm not even sure if the arrow would penetrate the skull, if you hit them in the eye, sure, apart from that I have no idea, probably not, but i'm guessing unless the zombie is super close a bow will be useless. 50ft is pretty close as it is.
Crossbow- I have no idea. Might work, you have much faster moving and heavier steel bolts, problem then becomes reloading which you need to be stationary to do and takes a lot of effort and time.
Also with a home made bow I doubt your results would be any better than a composite bow....

Took the Little Lady to the range yesterday for date night to try us out some archery. Definitely harder than I thought it would be, I was doing alright for a while there and then I accidentally overdrew a shot and tried to fire the arrow into the back of the bow. Imagine my surprise when the cheap fiberglass arrow seemed to just disintegrate as it split to pieces... Left a fairly big gash in my thumb too. Aside from that though it was a good time.
Little Lady is practically a natural so it seems we've found yet another thing that she's better than me at...
I also found out that range time and equipment rental actually cost more than putting a few hundred rounds down field at the gun range. Might just have to buy my own stuff and put a few hay bails in the back yard to shoot at.
