I went and watched Cabin in the Woods last Friday and loved it.
It had a great mix of gore and laughs the entire film.

I gave it a 4 of 5 on Netflix.

I put this in the zombie forum because the horror picked to kill these kids was Redneck Zombies over thousands of options.

Yeah, our local movie reviewer said it was a great horror/comic movie (I guess it's kind of a throwback to the classic and not so classic horror movies from the 80s.) Haven't seen it yet myself, but me and my wife are interested in watching it. The movie reviewer said the last 20 or 30 minutes of this movie are epic! That endorsement alone has my attention!

I saw it a my local cinema and thought it was incredible - easily the best film I've seen all year and the most original horror film in a very, very long time! I wont say anything in case I spoil it, but this a must see!

Totally agreed on all fronts!!! Since I read your post, that was the final straw, and I've seen it twice since. More of a "movie-with-zombies-in-it" rather than a straight-up "zombie movie" but shit, I'll take that definitely. I loved when he's explaining the difference between the two types of zombies. Like you said, I don't want to say too much, for fear of giving something away -- this is definitely one that you don't want to know anything about going in. But all my friends loved it, and I've heard nothing but good things. I recommend Cabin in the Woods to everyone here. Pretty original horror movie, but built upon known horror tropes.

I really liked the novel concept of the movie...

And they are casting for a prequel now as well.

And your argument will always be invalid if you just post "this movie sucks" without explaining why you think it sucks.

This movie rocked. It kept you wondering to the very end what genre it really was.

I saw this movie with my then girlfriend when it came out. Loved every second of it. What the previews make you think the movie is and what it actually is, is my favorite aspect of the film.

Watched 30 mins so far, still can't work out why staying in a rundown cabin when already got the use of a great motorhome, as per Race With The Devil.

Just a thought.

This is definitely one of the most original horror movies I've seen in awhile. Great ideas, great execution, a little light on the actual 'horror' (but since it's more of a horror comedy I'll let it slide), and an overall awesome movie. Definitely some cool throwbacks to older horror movies for all the horror buffs out there too.

I would definitely recommend this as a must see for horror fans.

And not to put up any spoilers, but the ending sequences are just plain badass.

Sorry, but this movie was lame. This was far from original. Why? Simple. Joss Whedon is a one trick pony when it comes to writing. All those great and original themes and ideas were lifted straight from his own shows Buffy the vampire slayer and Angel. The facility and the entire ending was already done in season finales of both of those shows. Entire seasons of both shows revolved around facilities that did all these same things.
There was nothing original about this movie and is a joke of a horror movie.
