Do think think Facebook has killed message boards? At one time I was a member of at least 6 different boards. All but 2 have closed down. Even Fangoria and Rue Morgue magazines have closed their boards due to slow activity. And lets face it, this place barely has a pulse anymore outside of the survivalists. I finally gave in to Facebook to help promote my company. I still belong to 2 boards including this one. I will check this place and the other one and with in a minute I usually end up on Facebook. Is it an end of an era? Or is the horror genre in a major slump right now?

I think Facebook is the number one reason why horror boards are so slow right now. It seems like everyone I used to talk to horror about a few years ago now only go on Facebook. One main reason I think is a lot of employers wont let their employees go on internet sites on company time, but allow Facebook. I dont go on Facebook anymore because to many wierdos, or people who want to be your friend, a 100 + friends is to much for me.
Horror Boards are going the way of the Dinosaur, or things that were Made in America.

It's kind of sad isn't it? There are many technological advancements coming that are making me not want to live in this world anymore. Maybe I just need to leave America. Something that is a definite possibility for the future.

Kind of scarey that they can track you where ever you go, have a record of where you been just by tracking your cell phone. And who controls that technology? Remember corporate controlled law enforcement agencies can use whatever you put down in Facebook against you in the Court of Corperate Law. I saw on the news where insurance companies have the technologiy now that they can install in your vehical that they can keep track of where you go, if your speeding, or whatever your driving habits are so sometime in the future the insurance companies can base that on how much they will charge you on car insurance, pr use that to deny a claim. ( For your own good of course)With the Goverment being as dirty as it is now, Im sure they can get laws passed to go ahead with it so they can maximize their profits, excuse me I ment to say raise your rates as to be fair to other so called safe drivers.
Just point your mouse on the highlited red in the post here at ATZ, and you get advertising, as an example of where technology is going.

I agree our corporate run government is slowly turning this into a fascist country.
I saw the tracking in internet ads happen to me. A couple months ago I spent a night searching B.C. Rich guitars. The next day I went on the Rue Morgue magazine message board (before it closed) and on the side of the forum page was an ad for "Buy B.C. Rich guitars here" I was like WTF?? I have to say that I did not like the feeling it gave me to see that ad there.

I use to be a member of several horror boards and was even Moderator on a couple of them over the past 10 years. Now, I only post on here and Deadpit.com
I'm a member of facebook(Rip Moore) but I don't get on there til the weekend time. I like coming to real horror message boards though like this one. I also post alot on people's reviews and dvd/vhs updates on youtube.
I think the horror genre is just in a slight slump now but a new generation of horror fans are coming around now and I think it will pick up.
Not too worry......I am still always around drinking a beer!!!!
I will post more on here at ATZ tonight and this weekend cause I have tomorrow til Tuesday off from work. I will post more in the horror movies section on here of films from the 70's and 80's.

I have noticed as well that this place is dead as a graveyard.. but it raises an interesting point, perhaps ATZ should migrate to FB or at least have an active facebook page as tragic as it sounds I am sure the activity would go
rebump... I actually just checked out the fan fare zombie pages on FB and they're rather pathetic..
