A music can set the tone of a film from slapstick comedy to unsettling and creepy. Just look at Survival of the Dead...I bet you didn't notice that films biggest downfall was its Danny Elfman inspired score, did you? Watch it again. Imagine it with darker, more atmospheric tunes and ambiance...it could've been suitably creepy despite its flaws if the music wasn't so upbeat and quirky.
