This guy is dead broke after he made millions and millions from producing The Blair Witch Project.

The film was made for like between $30,000 to $60,000 and grossed over $200,000,000 worldwide and now he is broke.

Jeesh, he should invested his money instead of buying everything in the world he wanted lol.

Very true! I never really cared too much for Blair Witch Project and knew it was fake to begin with but some people actually thought it was true lol. It caught on back then and made alot and alot of people rich. I actually like Blair Witch 2 better than the original.

I've never heard of him but here's his imdb:

I never heard of his projects after TBWP. Maybe he lost a lot of money on them. I thought Blair Witch was good, but it did seem to spawn a lot of other crappy hand held movies. I like Zombie Diaries I & II but the hand held camera work on them kind of brought them down a knotch.

Wow. That is just messed up. And also goes to prove that some producers have no clue. I really like Blair Witch, but that movie was a product of clever advertising for it's time before viral videos. It was basically a fluke that it did so well. This guy must have thought every thing he touched afterward would be successful as well and probably spent stupid amounts of money on mediocre film projects.

And he probably didn't have a wife to knock him down to reality regularly like my wife does.

Actually, I am certain that the Blair Witch film was the pioneer in viral video releases. I recall swapping AVIs that were discovered on various websites, and one guy at work was convinced it was real by their campaign. I should track down where my Eudora folder was saved because a bunch of us where I worked were tracking the various websites they setup for the film. Granted, we did not have youtube, but video on the internet existed well before youtube was released. :)

Tons of pro athletes too, for every million you have sitting in the bank you make 40k a year in interest alone. Leave 3 mil alone and you have a salary that the bank is paying you of 120k a year plus you should own everything else you need outright from the rest of your dough.
Check out my story "Zombies Across the Border" in the books section and let me know what you think!

Why isn't that happening though? There has to be something that's deterring that since it's just too easy, and people are still going broke after making their millions.

I think i see the problem. That's 4% interest. I think interest rates are a lot lower. I may be wrong though... just tell me where to dump some of my savings because i'm getting jack on mine.

In most people's cases I think bad money habits just continue to translate out even after they have a sudden windfall. If you couldn't live within a budget beforehand, couldn't recognize the difference between and Investment and a Liability, and couldn't save two two dimes for the life of you before you won your millions of dollars your not likely to be able to do it afterwards either unless you have a serous attitude adjustment. Got a buddy of mine that keep thinking if he just got a higher paying job that he could save more, and I keep pointing out that no matter how much money he's made or who he's been dating at the time he's still always found a way to spend his entire paycheck before the next one came. Same kind of thing, i almost guarantee that if he won the power ball or something he'd find a way to spend it all in a couple years.

Saving money is almost a fools game. Interest rates never keep up with inflation anyways so by keeping your money in a saving account your actually losing money in my mind. If you could really make money by going from bank to bank to get better interest rates on your savings than we'd all be rich.

While you're correct here, this option is still a better choice for the people being discussed on this thread.

I don't mean to get rich with better interest. Though, why shouldn't i or anybody for that matter store money with a bank that pays better? I'm talking about savings only and not investments.

Oh don't get me wrong I'm not telling you to run out and gamble on the stock market or something. In fact i wouldn't really recommend that to anyone. Far be it from me to tell you what to do with your money. But yea anyway... Quite simply at it's most base form an investment is just something that puts money into my pocket while a liability is something that takes money out of my pocket. I donated a glass pitcher and three bucks to my nieces lemon-aid stand and got five bucks back in royalties from her Mom. Or I invested sixty bucks in a lawn mower for a kid up the street to make some money over the summer with and I'm getting free lawn service all summer. Better investments in my eyes than trying to get the inside line on Microsoft any day. In my opinion anyways...

In this producer's case, it sounds like he self-invested a lot of his money into future movies that did not make as much money as he expected. That, and he probably blew a bunch on hookers and blow.
