I know for me, the John Leguizamo line from Land of the Dead has always resonated with me "I always wanted to see how the other half lives".

Out of curiosity, if you where bit would you want the bullet or to be left to walk?

Hummm I'd have to say.... I'd want to be shot... and would probably shoot myself.... Its just that I'd rather have humains left on Earth then Zombies.... and having the "chance" of killing another humain would not interest me at all....

I would try mightily to avoid getting bit, but if I did I would want to walk. Zombification might not be all that bad, I'd like to find out for myself.

Are you talking about taking the bullet before or after you turn?

I've never killed myself with a bullet before, so i can't tell you how quick and painless it would or wouldn't be. I'm guessing either way, before or after, a quick sharp pain or not, it's probably better to bite the bullet.

Let's say you'd rather wait or not eat one at all. The process of going through an infection could be very painful. You're suffering from being bitten, and probably feeling the symptoms of the virus coursing through your veins. I'm thinking fever, cold sweats, and pain all over. At some point i think bitten people would be asking to "kill me now."

However, if you do manage to survive and turn before offing yourself, what would the consequences be? It could be like Rharmelink said and have your head end up in a cooler. That might not matter though if you were dead, and have no active senses. If that was the case, then you might as well have shot yourself anyway, right? At least you would've prevented the zombie you from hurting anyone else. But what if you could still have some cognitive activity? Would you really want to be able to see and know everything you do without control over it? Could you imagine the horror of having to watch yourself eat your friends, relatives, boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife, and kids? Your own kids? Your own baby? That might be a bit hard to swallow if you ask me.

I just see it as the chance one might take, one could also end up being "big daddy" from Land of the Dead. One cannot really know what would be in store for them if they did cross over the human to zombie line.

I am talking about before one turns, not much choice in the after one turns. When it comes to the after one turns, personally I believe that I could deal with the consequences, that is if one would even know that they were doing it. I am not having children, so that would not be an issue and as for the person I am with we have already had in depth conversations about what we would want done if one of us were to get bit. I can imagine the horror of it all, and I still wonder what it would be like. I have dreams about it on a pretty regular basis to be quite honest. Which is part of why I thought it would make an interesting topic of conversation.

That is actually a logical fallacy. Whether I value human life is not a precursor to whether I value my own life. Consider that it maybe that I value my own life enough that in the event of getting bit I would rather see how the other half lives than give up my existence completely.

Personally, I would want to see how the other half "lives", I dream about it regularly and am maybe to curious for my own good. She on the other hand would want me to give her the bullet after hugging her and telling her goodbye. That is of course if it was not a "rage virus" type of situation where it is to quick for the pleasantries, then she would just want me to shoot her. In that situation, I would want her to either run if she could or give me the bullet.

One thing one cannot know is whether they are unconscious or not, there are a couple of examples where they aware. I would take out as many as possible, but if I got bit I would switch teams, and take out as many humans as I could before getting one to the brain.

Well there are the few examples of people wanting to wait to be turned before they are executed (DotD both versions) which I can respect, those people had their futures taken from them so they want to wait until the bitter end. However for myself I think if I were bitten I wouldnt even wait unless the situation deemed my survival otherwise, such as in Resident Evil when Caplan re emerges to save the rest of the survivors from the red queen and that monster.
If I were bitten while looking for supplies I might make myself a nice place to die, lay out all my gear, say a little prayer and do the deed.

I would most unequivocally wish to be shot rather than walk around eating people and causing the extinction of the human race (not that I would cause it alone!).

Being shot or being a zombie would make no difference because I wouldn't be aware of being a zombie anyway. I'd be in hell, or hopefully heaven!

So knowing that I wouldn't be aware of it, I choose to have my head blown off.
