Howdy Everyone, back again,,,
I am surprised that Kirkman took the Romero route of everyone who dies becomes a Zombie. I love that idea, myself and I believe society would go bad sooner if everyone who died became a Zombie instead of those who are only bitten becoming Zombies. Think of the chaos of everyone who died, say tomorrow suddenly getting up and attacking the living versus just a new virus where those just who were bitten, scratched dying and getting up and attacking the living.
How does the virus work on someone who wasn't bitten??
My aunt asked me this which is why I am here giving you all an earful.
I do want to take a moment to refresh everyone with how the virus now works. You are basically a carrier of the virus and the said virus has no effect on your health because it is dormant. However if you die because of anything, Zombie Bite Typhoid, TB, AIDS, Lock Jaw because you were out scavenging for food and stepped on a rusty nail. I read an article online where the idiot reporter seems to think the virus is slowly killing people and turning them into zombies. Somebody didn't do their homework, anyways I wanted to use this last paragraph to refresh everyone with what we are dealing with here and how the virus works. So everyone in Kirkman's world is a Typhoid Mary...until they die, then they are a Zombified ravenous Typhoid Mary.

Everybody is a carriers, yep the TWD Virus So how do you all think the Virus works??? What do you think?

It makes no sense to have a bite cause it -- not if it breaks out world-wide simultaneously. If a bite transmits it, who was patient zero, and how did they get around so quickly?
The bite may CAUSE an infection that kills. But it may be completely unrelated to why the dead reanimate.
It also makes no sense that Jenner would say everyone was "infected" -- he said they didn't know WHAT it was caused by (virus, bacteria, etc.), so how could they classify it as an "infection"? An infection would imply that had some concept of what was being transmitted.
Why does everyone need to be a carrier? Maybe some environmental factor has changed. That would make more sense to me, because it would NEED to be something that affected the whole world at the same time. Some form of "radiation" or whatever that has been traveling through space for millennia, and has finally reached Earth. Or maybe some shift in Solar radiation? Whatever.
But then the question also comes up -- are there some that are exceptions to reanimation? We've seen corpses that haven't had obvious head injuries. Maybe certain medical conditions prevent reanimation, such as a neurological condition like Parkinson's or Epilepsy or Cerebral Palsy. Or diabetes. Or whatever. How many non-zombie infection stories have we seen where the "cure" turns out to be from a hormonal pregnant woman, whose bodily processes aren't operating in the normal range?
In one zombie book I read, the cause is an airborne biochemical agent that takes 2 weeks from release to death and reanimation. Not a 2-week incubation period, but over the 2 weeks, the infection mechanism continues to mutate. That is, if you catch it one week in, you're only one week away from dying and turning. But once the 2 weeks is up, the only transmission method is exchange of bodily fluids, such as the bite. I liked that explanation of the process. It gives your "terrorists" two weeks to spread the biochemical agent as widely as possible, with no one noticing anything until it's too late, because the resulting symptoms are simultaneous world wide.

I'm glad they went this route. From a survival stand point, think how this changes the game. Think about the Carl situation. He is near death from a gunshot and Rick and Lori are sleeping with him through the night. If he passed during the night, whoever is sitting there is gonna get bit. Hershal is an old guy and could die in his sleep. Who wants to sleep in the same room as that? Not I.
I believe it was posted on this forum somewhere earlier, but Lori's baby. What happens if that baby dies in the womb? Its a sick and twisted concept to think about but its a WTF moment for sure. TWD world just got alot more difficult to survive in.

I like the ideal of anybody who dies returns as a walker. Kind of a homage to George Romero.

That was the first thought that crossed my mind when Rick yelled, "What difference would it have made?"
Yes, it WOULD have made a difference in how they treated Carl. Or at least SHOULD have. Carl was potentially more dangerous than the walkers in the barn.
Maybe even T-Dog. They left him alone with Dale at the highway. What if T-Dog had died and reanimated during the night?

Even if the zombies could be defeated, think of how the world would have to change if anyone that died became a zombie.
Paramedics and first responders would always have to be watching patients or the injured VERY closely. In one of the TWD webisodes, one person started giving mouth-to-mouth to revive an accident victim, who woke up as a zombie and ripped off the Samaritan's lips with a single bite.
Hospital beds and operating tables would all need to have physical restraints.
Could you even revive someone from something like a heart attack, before they revived as a zombie?
Imagine waking up in the car after an auto accident, and finding that everyone else in the car had died and become zombies.

In the comic Andrea and Dale are actually an item. Didn't go that way in the series for some reason. I guess they figure TV audiences can handle walking corpses and blood and guts but not a crusty old fart getting his end away with a hot young(ish) blonde. Anyway, it occured to me while reading the comic that sleeping in the same bed with an old fella like him could prove dangerous if he dropped off in the middle of the night. She might wake up being gnawed on in a way that isn't quite so sexy.

Yeah. She's no spring chicken but she's far from a granny. So youngish. Why? Was that politically incorrect of me or something?
