Wait overnight till sunlight appears around the edges of the door. Position myself to be able to peek through the door easier. Then open the door slowly and look through the crack. Slowly open it more while keeping my hands on the door to pull it closed fast. If the room is clear, leave the clothes and BB gun but bring the book and paper to use as TP. After all it's been a long night.

I think the correct answer/the answer the OP is looking for is to brace yourself against the narrow closet walls and maybe use the clothing bar to lift yourself off the ground in order to open the trap door without having to leave the closet.

wait until morning and jump out the window, use standard concealment techniques to evade the zombies and clear the area

...Fire spells?
I guess if zombies can walk, maybe spells can control fire. Sounds like I hit paydirt, as long as I can control fire with enough precision to instantly destroy zombies without igniting their surroundings.

Red herring.

Think I'm going to leave the closet of death and go down into the trap door of mystery. From there I'm probably going to look for another way out and see if I can go make friends with the guy with the gun. Assuming he's not already zombie chow. Might bring along the book of spells too. To use as rolling papers or something.

It's not a red herring. It's fire spells. It's my closet and I can fire spell if I want to!

Are you looking for us to use the Fire Spells...? I don't quite understand the relevance of the scenario. If you're asking just to ask, then that's cool -- if I had time, I'd probably read the Fire Spells.

Pfft. Fire spells on zombies? I'd much rather use Disintegrate, though that's a higher level spell. A Cold spell should be about the same level, and works better too. It should be able to freeze multiple targets instead of just one, like a Fire spell does.
Now, what would be better would be the Control Undead spell. Why destroy them when you can get them to do your bidding? BTW, what rules are they using? If they're going by the advanced rules, i'm sure they'll need spell components in order to cast the spells. For most fire spells i think one of the ingredients usually something like sulfur or bat guano. Any chance those ingredients are also hidden in the closet? Probably not, which means a cold type spell would be easier. I think that might use a more common ingredient like water.
There might be a slight problem with casting the spells. Being in a narrow closet, there may not be enough room to perform the ritualistic movements necessary for casting said spells. Stepping out of the closet poses a different problem. You're open to attack by the zombies. Any disruption to the spell casting causes the spell to fizzle. That's the problem with spell casters. They're weak at low levels, and need a party to protect them. Cleric types on the other hand, don't need to worry about spell components nor disruption to casting. They should be able to do a Turn Undead in the heat of battle.
And again, that would be my main choice. I'd do a Turn Undead, so i say bring it on! :P

If we're talking D&D I was always a big fan of the Fighter class. A decent suit of chainmail, a heavy shield and a Dwarven Waraxe that does acid damage and I'll be set.
Always useful to carry a few Cure Disease potions in case of infection too

I assumed Oblivion style spell casting, where once I know the spell, I just point and cast it. The book claims to contain multiple fire spells, with no distinction as to what type, so I think it's a safe assumption that the book contains spells with varying levels of power and area effect.
