Weapons

There is a large veriety of items to use as a weapon in a zombie apocalypse. On this page you'll learn what to use and how to use it..

Weapon #1) A Gun- These are probably the most useful thing to have during a zombie apocalypse. A simple gun anyone over the age of 21 can get (In Massachusetts) is a pistol. Using a pistol one can easily get a one shot kill (or 2 shots at the most) by shooting the zombie in the head. Another gun you can get anywhere is a shotgun, using a shotgun it is a good 80% chance you'll get a one shot kill with it (as long as you can aim straight). As the zombie apocalypse gets worse shops will be abandoned and you can easily go and take what you can find (unless someone got there first), If you do manage to get there first you'll be able to get: loads of ammo, rifles, shotguns, pistols, and a lot of other great supplies.

Weapon #2) An Axe- An axe is an everyday item at almost every home. Its sharp end can cut through any bone, while its blunt end can crush any skull you see. An axe is also great to have with you because you can break down a door to get inside a house or store. The only downside to the ax is that it takes a lot of energy to swing it over and over.

Weapon #3) Chainsaw- This Bad-Ass weapon can be used to kill ANY zombie. This gruesome weapon can rip a zombie in half or it can break through any wood you need. The only downside to this weapon is it needs gas to run, so always bring some gas along with you if your using a chainsaw to fight off those zombies.

Weapon #4) A Bat- I do NOT suggest using this as a weapon. A bat can do some damage but it cannot get you out of a zombie flank, the bat takes a lot of energy to swing over and over, and it is not reliable to kill zombies. So I do not recommend using this while on the move or camping out.

Pistol an easy 1 shot kill? Have you tried to use one? Try hitting a basketball or balloon on a post from 10 meters away. Then tie one to a rope and get it swinging to simulate movement and see if it is still an easy 1 shot kill. Then use the swinging ball while someone yells at you to get your adrenaline going and see if it is easy. The shooters that do this type of stuff in competition practice every day for thousands of rounds to pull that stuff off. As for movies.....well in movies a pistol is also an anti-aircraft gun.

Sure is. It only takes one or two shots to bring down a zombie in all the video games i've played... ;-)

If you are letting them get that close, why don't you save the ammo and just use a ball peen hammer. That seems like a weapon missing from your list.

How close? It might be trouble if it's a zombie horde. A handful might not be as much a problem.

I don't think the hammer would be too much different from the bat, where it might take a few hits to stop a zombie. If the chainsaw if left out, the weapons could be divided into categories. There's the firearm, hacking, and bludgeoning. One category that would be missing is piercing, like a spear.

Bayonet.......lighter to carry and quicker to transition to.

However, an actual spear is much easier and smoother to use than a fixed bayonet, also lighter and usually longer than a rifle.

I'll bet a spear made from a Mosin Nagant cruciform bayonet would work great on zombies.

I always thought a medieval mace would be a good melee weapon against a zombie. Short spikes on the head would probably be better than longer ones to avoid it getting stuck.

I'm a good shot with a pistol, but it is nowhere near main arm material. My main weapon would be my rifle, if I can get it out of the armory I'd be rockin with an M27, but I don't have weapons cards for a pistol so I'd have to find my own. As far as melee weapons I'd go with a bayonet or a Machete. Probably a machete seeing as how I don't actually own a bayonet.

fail list is fail

a shotgun (pump or auto) or a rifle (semi) will serve a newbie shooter better than a pistol. a pistol is a defensive weapon and much harder to use than a long gun.

an axe...meh...i can live with that. cheap and available.

a chainsaw? seriously? too messy, too noisy, finite fuel, unweildly, and the rest of your group will look at you like a moron and then feed you to the horde. :zombie5:

so...get a long gun (anything but single shot)

an axe is ok, but a crowbar might be better (avoid a unitasker). better yet, one of these... Posted Image Stanley FatMax Xtreme 55-120 FuBar III :zombie2:

and leave the chainsaw at home.

This is more of a list of movie weapon choices than real world, hence why I mentioned just use a ball peen hammer.

Agree, those things are devastating on soft targets

I have always thought the chainsaw was a terrible and dangerous weapon for the user. Generally speaking useable petrol will be too valuable to carry to refill your weapon when it is much better as a bargaining tool or to fuel a vehicle for escape. I know if you were carrying a jerry can and we needed fuel to put into a vehicle to save our lives I would certainly be taking it without much asking.

Also I consider the spray of the infected blood a serious biohazard, I don't even think I would want to go into a room after someone has successfully killed a zombie with a chainsaw. Not only would the area be covered in gore but the possibility of ingesting infected flesh or blood is significant.

There now that's one thing I was wondering... why is it that in every single movie etc... you see infections by bites.... and they end up dying from it..... but never die from getting blood in there mouths after beating a zombie to death Oo. For the moment the only thing that's kind of logical is "The Walking dead" Oo. Or is there something else?

Head shots are not as easy as one might think.
Especially under pressure and against multiple moving targets.
Your best bet might be to move in on them to just outside their reach, take the shot and move on to the next one.
You will tire though.

Chainsaws are good, but bats are bad?

*facepalm*

There are more ways to use a bat than just flailing it around. Use it as a leverage tool to knock zombies down, then run. You're better off running from zombies than fighting them. Get yourself to safety and let decomposition do the hard part.

A 91/30 with a bayonet should even pass the 10 meter test used above for pistols :)
