My right foot has been killing me for a week now and in very much pain and I had been using those Icy Hot patches for my foot but found out yesterday when I went to see the doctor that I have Gout. It makes your foot swell and feels like needles it in at times. I have no idea how I got it lol but my grandfather had it and also they say it can be from what you eat. It's very painful but my swelling in my foot is going down cause I am taking meds and have painkillers for it.
Anyone ever heard of it or suffered from Gout?
I have several friends who had it but I thought they were joking when they said their feet hurt lol. Now, I know they were honest.

I get it in my left ankle. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. It is something people laugh at until they have it.
People say drinking beer and stuff like Ham and seafood are the greatest culprits. You can get it regardless, obviously. All I know is that I've gotten a high fever and a swollen ankle to the point where I couldn't move, literally. I usually get a steroid shot and it goes away pretty quickly. It is arthritis.

I'm fairly uninformed about this but a guy I worked with had it and sometimes had to go to modified duties because he'd get such severe attacks. Isn't there a relation with being overweight and gout?

I don't know but I'm not overweight too much lol. I'm 6ft and 187 lbs. One of my highschool buddies played college baseball at Georgia Southern University and has had Gout for 15 years. Another highschool friend played college football at Wofford College and he is like 6'4 and probably 285lbs now and he has Gout in the ankles like me. It fucking hurts though.

Thanks for the info, was basing the overweight thing off of hearsay and the fact that the guy I knew from work could've stood to lose a good deal of weight.
