Actually that's not entirely accurate. you may buy/possess a suppressor in California only if you're a cop and have department permission.

whats the response time for 911 in your area ? If its longer than 2-3 seconds , thats why ( and that includes pulling out your phone and dialing ) . Bad things can and do happen , its up to you to ensure that you come out on top . And carring a gun is no different than wearing a seat belt , both are means to save ones life . And you hope to never have a need to use either one .

I lived in a pretty rough area for many years and i've never needed a gun. If somebody has a gun on you, you give em your wallet. The last thing you wanna do is pull out a gun if your getting robbed. Seriously if you had a gun pointing at you would you actually try to outdraw the gunman? Now if somebody breaks into your house thats a differant story. But walking around a major city with a gun is pointless.
I will say this if I ever decide to become a Folk Diciple or a Latin King then i'll make sure I have a gun.

situational awareness should help keep someone from pulling a gun on you first . And I'm not hoping on someone willing to pull a gun on me to not just go one step further . I'm sure the people at layne bryant thought that if they just handed over the money they'd be safe too , http://en.wikipedia....Bryant_shooting . Then there is this case http://en.wikipedia....dy%27s_massacre , the same thing happened in nashville a couple of years back . Like you said you can't count on being truely safe in you own home , http://en.wikipedia....ichita_Massacre . Nor in your car , http://en.wikipedia....istopher_Newsom . Can't really count on the police to help either , http://www.nytimes.c...s/28scotus.html . They only have to protect the public as a whole ( many cases on the books proving so ) .
Say that someone does get the drop on you . Robs you and tells you to go to the back of the store , what then ? You could always do like this guy http://www.snopes.co...guns/subway.asp . Many others do the same every day . But in the end its up too you to make the final decicision .

Sorry to say bro, but you are what I call a sheeple. You rely on the police to come to your rescue when the SHTF. All the LEOs will be doing when they finally respond to your 911 call for help is to call the forensics examiner & doing a chalk outline of your carcass. News flash bro, you are the 1st responder! Not the cops! I would rather have my G26 on me & not need it, than to need it & not have it. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

I see you posted Semper Fi and I hope your not a Marine with an attitude like that. I did two tours in the Gulf and I know how guns can give some people a sense of false power and thats why goofy gang bangers kill each other because they dont know how or when to use em.
Too your comment about that i'm gonna wait for the cops too show up. Well i'm gonna talk and do what I can to get out of the situation. You and nobody else here is gonna outdraw a guy with a gun to your head. Stop playing Grand Theft Auto will ya.
What the blank is a freakin sheeple?

Hi bro
1st off, any LEO you do talk to will tell you that you & ONLY you, can protect yourself from crime, it's not a cops job to serve & protect you. Don't believe the sign on their car door. Nobody mentioned acting like a vigilante, so mentioning Charles Bronson was not needed in the convo. An attitude like what? Guess what, it so safe out in the streets of the good ol USA, but yet, every cop in the country carries off duty cuz they know how dangerous it really is out there. I'm glad gangbangers are goofy & dumb & kill each other due to their ineptitude. Less scum in the streets. A sheeple is an acronym we in the military & LEOs call people that ignorantly believe that the govt or their police dept will always be there to protect them when the big bad wolf comes a calling.
Unarmed civilians are sheep, the badguys are the wolves and the military and LEOs are the sheep dogs. Now the sheep don't like that the sheepdog/s are near them & barking at them to not stray off the path & to stay together & they sometimes resent the sheepdog/s & wish it wasn't always around. But when the big bad wolves show up to get them, then they are so thankful that the sheepdog/s is/are there to protect them from harm
Your damn right I was a US Marine & a combat vet of both OIF/OEF & nothing is wrong with my tude. But I'd love for you to point out exactly what I said that made you say I do have a tude. And for your information I grew up in the streets of Brooklyn, NY & lived there for 28yrs. So you're really not impressing me with your ' I grew up in the southside of Chicago' bit.
Bottom line is , you wanna live your life depending on the cops to protect you from the badguys, that's on you. Me, once I walk out the door of my house with my CCHG license & my concealed baby G26, my situational awareness radar is on at all times, I sit in restaurants where I can see all exits/entrances, scan all cars parked next to or near my car in parking lots for occupants. My head is always on a swivel. Worked in Iraq & the Stan, and I apply my military training to the real world as well. I, nor my family will never be anyone's crime victim. They would find out the hard way that they picked the "wrong victim" to mess with.

I'm not against guns by no means but in the city your just making yourself a mark. Cmon man in 5 years your gonna be in prison if you really feel that way and your gonna be a sheeple for the rest of your life. Get rid of your freaken gun on the streets. I dont care if it's registered or not. If I came into a sitution which might be viewed by a jury of 12 where my gun killed a guy and then got sentanced to 20 years what the hell does that do for your family? Take the bullet and die and let your family least use the benifits if you care so much about your family.

I don't know Parademon1 very well yet but what says makes sense to me and should to you too.
I do know Hitman though and you should listen to him.
No one is telling you to carry a gun.
In fact I will go one step further and suggest you don't.
You don't need to be ashamed of being a sheeple you have lots of company.
I live in the seventh most dangerous city in the country.
I carry, my life is worth more to me than your life.
If you try to take mine rest assured if it is in my power you will reach hell before me.
I am no vigilante I am just an old man who wants to be left alone to live in peace.
That's the bottom line, all I want is to be left alone.
Leave me alone and it won't matter if I am carrying a bazooka.
Furk with me and I will stop you by any means I can.
As for making yourself a target I will say yes at times you are.
Many people who carry concealed are not conscientious about concealing.
Stand by for story time kiddies.
This was relayed to me by the responding police officer.
Wal Mart parking lot .
An older black male pulls into a parking place in a late model pickup truck.
He gets out of his truck and adjusts his holster.
He proceeds to walk towards the store.
Our bad guy saw him adjusting the gun.
Bad guy takes 2x4 from back of old guys truck.
Bad guy walks up behind old guy and clocks him the back of the head with the board.
Bad guy takes gun ($1500 custom 1911 as the story was told) wallet, and keys.
Bad guy drives off in old guys truck.
The truck was recovered later that night but was missing the gun from the glove compartment and all the tools from the tool box.
What were the problems here?
1. Total lack of situational awareness
2. Exposing the gun thereby making himself a target.
I can't say I have never adjusted a holster but I don't make a production of it and I damn sure don't pull my shirt up and let everyone see me put it in the holster.
Is that what the old guy did?
Did he make a show of holstering the gun when he said he "adjusted" it?
We will never know.
So yes having a pistol can make you a target.
The bad guys are counting on you wandering across the parking lot of life blind to your surroundings.
You must be awake and aware or you might as well leave your pistol at home in the safe.
Rest assured this old man (me) is awake and aware...
You may not agree with me and that is your right.
If you really are a vet you paid for the right to disagree with me.

1st off, off duty LEOs & CCHG owners DO NOT ( there's always that 10%) advertise that they are carrying. Where do you get that notion that we do? I love how some people confuse situational awareness with being paranoid. I'm gonna assume you were in any other branch asides from the corps, that you refer to yourself as "Ex" military. I'm a 'former" Marine & have "EARNED" the right to be called a Marine-Devil Dog-Tuefelhunden, for the rest of my life. No ex in my title. Only Ex Marines are those that have gotten in trouble while on active duty & got NJPed & ended up with a BCD discharge or even worse a DHC. Also those Jarheads that got into trouble with the law after they got out & are now doing jail time. They are 'Ex- Marines cuz they now lost the title due to their dishonorable actions.
You know so little about the rights of self defense & the situations where you have a right to use deadly force to protect yourself, family, friends or even a complete stranger. As long as you complied with all the laws pertaining to when you can apply "deady force', you'll have no fear of any jury convicting you.
That you say I should let a thug kill me so my family can collect the bennies speaks volumes about your mindset. Yep, you're a super Sheeple. Sorry buddy, this Sheepdog will make sure the thug is a few ounces heavier & he can leave his 6 kids from 3 diffeerent women all the stolen cash & drugs he has accumulated during his POS existance.

Couple of things. The LE only sales are for law enforcement officers who are AUTHORIZED by the department they work for to buy their own weapons for on duty use and 10+ magazines for off duty carry so they can act if they need to. You've seen them speeding? Thats good. That means they are hurrying to get somewhere. Officers do not use lights on every run. There are reasons for that. Well being checks, public disturbance calls, and other 'low grade' calls mean that it isnt technically an emergency but warrant getting there quickly. Also, if they are in the vicinity of a serious call, they often shut off their lights and sirens so they do not ALERT certain bad people to their presence. Driving using their cell phone? Some information may be too sensitive for the radio but its the traffic code so you're right. hmm. Well, considering they have a Mobile Data Terminal (computer) right there in their car shouldnt you be worried about those too considering its a video screen facing the driver? I mean, yea, without them they would have to pull over to run a plate and catch up with them (if they dont lose them) if they are wanted or are an expired plate etc but they wouldnt be breaking the traffic code, right? You know, lets get rid of in-car computers and cell phones and go back to the early 1990's. This would mean paper reports and hiring more dispatchers. paper reports mean overtime. Overtime and more dispatchers means less officers on the street or higher taxes. But they would be at least obeying traffic code right?
