If I ever made a slasher movie, I would want it to be a financed production with a tight schedule because even though I enjoy slashers, making a slasher would not keep my interest over a year like our productions usually take. I would want it to be filmed within a month.

But Brian, you have the skills for a "real" indie slasher film cause your gore is great in the zombie films. You really need to give it a chance. Make a 80 minute slasher dvd with so so story line and I could at least put in $1,000 or so to you

It's just the amount of time it would take to make the movie. If I have to spend at least 6 months of my life on a movie, I want to spend that time creating an original story and creature effects. I do not get paid a dime to make these movies, but I enjoy it and do not mind spending years of my life to work on them.

A slasher film is one of those movies where I have to say that I am only interested if I am being paid. But if I was paid, I'd put 100% effort into it.

Morbidfilm just out of curiosity how much influence does 1980s horror movies have on your work? Im a huge fan of late 70s, and 80s horror. I think it is the best decade for horror. It seems like they really got it right back then. By the way I been to Germany while in the military, there are some sic people over there, I have no ideal why they would ban a horror movie there, especially with some of the sick shit you can see over there.

Pretty much everything I do is because of my love for 80's horror. I agree it was the best decade. As well as allot of great films from the 70's John Carpenter, George Romero and Lucio Fulci are my three main influential directors. And then top it off with a bunch of insane Asian films.
They just don't make movies like Night of the Creeps anymore!

I think if you wanna get serious in making one that over say a year's time if you set a time table then we could get a budget setup for one. By then I could easily put in a $1,000 into then after I buy a $5,000 engagement ring to my girlfriend by then BUT if she dumps me then I could put it into your movie by then lol. I'm serious.

I'm serious....girlfriend comes 1st lol but if I win the lottery someday which I don't play it that much I will invest a ton of money in you making a huge feature picture cause I think that you have the talent for it and you are great in the gore department.

It seems like a lot of modern horror has gone from destroying the beast to the beast destroying, bad CGI, and dick and fart jokes.

I agree. I am really disappointed in the way movies are made now a days. Cgi is killing my interest in new movies. We actually filmed tonight. While others half ass their movies with cgi, we were in a cold garage with a propane heater, the actor being gored was very cold as he was sprayed many times with allot of bllood. I burnt the shit out of my finger using a glue gun while building a large set piece that any SYFY channel movie would just cgi...badly.
oh well, that's why is mostly watch old films now.

What film are you making now and what's the title?

Congrats on the ban! I'd be proud if my work was too grotesque for an entire country to handle, especially Germany.

I agree with you that CGI is ruining modern films. My suspension of disbelief can only go so far. Also I respect that you do everything practically still, that takes a lot of time and effort. Would you ever be willing to share your special effect making secrets? I have a make up artist I work with, but he cost me too much money.

Cool man. I start production on a film later this year that will require extensive SFX and we want to do it ourselves rather than hiring it out.

Haven't been on ATZ in a while and this is brilliant new to come back to Well done Morbis and RIP.
I'm pretty jealous Germany banned you, I'm guessing that now any new copies of Fetus will have Banned In Germany on them.

Hey Cornflakes, yeah we are thinking of having stickers printed " Banned in Germany" like the stickers we put on BloodPigs that say "Voted Goriest movie of 2010" Rue Morgue magazine's readers poll. I still don't understand it, but it's nice to have some notoriety behind the company. :devilfire:

How are sales of Fetus in other countries if you don't mind me asking?

Outside of the US, Germany is our biggest buyer for all our movies. 2nd, 3rd and 4th would probably be Australia, England, and Canada. Sweden and Norway is up there as well.

Oh, and Japan just officially picked up BloodPigs! JVD has now signed Bone Sickness, Fetus and BloodPigs. And they want to see Cryptic Plasm once it is finished and we just sent screeners of At Dawn They Sleep and Dead Girl on Film to them as well. The interesting thing is our agent dealing with Japan says out of about 25 movies sent to Japan, they only picked up our films.

Wow, so sales are good then? I mean you are making money or the dvd publishing company is making money?

We are making some money on the Japanese deals. Our own sales that we get are very small and nothing even close to part time wages at a job. I've offered to film something for the Japanese company or have them co-produce our next movie and they can own it for life in Japan.
Filming Cryptic Plasm is the first time that I have really felt the strain of not having money to create what I really want to do.
