Cool vid.
To my understanding the thing about Parkour is that, unlike that urban freerunning stuff, it's designed to get you where you need to go as quickly and efficiently as possible. It's been described as a purely defensive martial art. More about escape than acrobatics. Nothing wrong with that. Having said that though this vid is more about entertainment than instruction. You'd be better off going and learning that sort of thing from experienced instructors. Personally I'd rather practice fighting rather than escape. Though being in shape and practicing a bit of this stuff might not hurt.
I did like that there wasn't any over the top acrobatics in the vid. The guys pretty much jumped things and scaled fences/walls with the intent of simply navigating the obstacles. No fancy flips or unneccesary break rolls.

About as useful as Capoeira in my opinion.
Check out my story "Zombies Across the Border" in the books section and let me know what you think!

What makes you think Capoeira isn't useful?

Parkour doesnt seem to useful to me anymore because I have carried weight and been tired and hungry, and trying to climb and run and jump with weight on sucks.

Good point, I bet those guys carb intake is huge, they are probably eating constantly to keep their energy up.

You know it Devildog! Let those guys try to go thru an O course with body armor & kevlar on, they'd be gassed in a heartbeat! Or a 15 mile hump in full combat load.

They wouldn't travel loaded. They'd be the types that go around with an empty backpack trying to scavenge anything they can get their hands on, and return to a BOL. They'd avoid all contact with anything hostile.

Even so, when youre tired and hungry your strength is sapped as if you had been working out all day.

Yes, but how do you know how tired or hungry they'd be? How tired do you get without your load? If you're hungry, you'd probably eat any chance you get. Once you come across food, you'd eat some to keep you going, and carry enough back.

Actaully, I would just do my best to stay hydrated as you can go w/o food for quite a while, but w/o H2o after a few days, you're gonna be a walker. To avoid any & all contact against walkers or other living survivors while scurrying for food/supplies, they'd have to be Ninjas.

Once food gets a little more scarce it will be different. Im saying that in the best of times that might be useful, but in less fortunate and down right sheisty times, something like parkour will be just another skill to be left by the wayside.

Sorry, i meant eat and drink when needed.
They'd just run whenever they see trouble instead of engaging them. They're most likely not ninjas, and they will be seen, but their reaction would be different than those that are prepared to hold their ground.

If that's all they have to survive, and it has been working for them, then i doubt anything would change.

Yeah cause guys like me who are trained to stand and assault directly through the threat have a different mental make up than the guys who react on the "flight" response rather than the "fight".

True enough Gyrene, but that would be doctrine used against a living , breathing adversary. Against an army of walkers in a world where they outnumber the living a million to one, we would have to change to hit & run tactics. Remember, engage the enemy when it's to your advantage, not thiers.
