After looking through all the different scenarios and what each would do, I thought that a study in which area would have the best chance for survival.
I will base my thoughts on various possibilities/variables.
The world will be broken down between zones and each zone will be examined in smaller areas.
IE: Western Hemisphere> North America> Canada
Each zone will be looked upon defensive capabilities, resources, mobility, isolation and population.
This will be based upon an apocalypse involving the Dead from Romero's Dawn and Day of the Dead.
Starting with Central America
Score (of 5)
Central America: 2
The western hemisphere provides
protection that runs the spectrum
between a low chance of survival to
a high chance to survive throughout
the end of days.
The weak spot is Central America. Under
developed/weak military will cause most,
if not all central american countries
to be overwhelmed faster than other,
better equiped and trained militaries,
can be deployed to the affected nations.
I would not want to be in that area
if an outbreak would originate from any of those countries.
Military: 2/5
Reliance on procurement of weapons from other countries is one of their
downfalls, along with small armies that wouldn't be able to control civilian panic let alone the horde of the dead. The armies of these nations have grown weak since the 1980's when they were at their peak due to civil war,
dictatorships and wars with neighboring nations.
Population: 2/5
Mostly poor, and rural, these popluations are underequipped to take some of the burden away from the overmatched military and police
forces. Communication is poor within these countries.
The police and military would be the main area
of communication for the civilians. The people of these countries have
a small chance to make it out alive outside of the first week of the outbreak.
Mobility: 1/5
Outside of the populated cities, the main mode of transport is either foot, animal or
bus. Lack of the ability to flee will cause a large number that survived the initial outbreak to be infected within the first week.
This zone will be one of the worst in the world for survival.
Overall Percentage for survival:
10-20% for 1 week
5-8% for greater than 1 week
Less than 2% for 1 month or more

May I add a human factor as to why Central America will be an awful place. All the cartels and criminal organizations will be out for themselves, which is great for them, but I see it hurting just about everyone else in the region.
Good analysis, BTW.
Good analysis, BTW.

I decided to write extensive essays on a worldwide epidemic and publish it as a book. Unfortunately I will not be able to post the remaining regions on here.
