Some people you just can't please.... :duuno:

The comic is loaded with character interaction...the story is about the survivors, not the zombies.

Of course we all knew they were going into the barn...it's directly taken from the source material. :chase:

How many thought Sophia would walk out of it though?

I am not hard to please.
Do you watch Sons of Anarchy?
Great Show.
Some episodes are better than others but the show rocks.

This show could be just as strong.
The first season was good, this season not so much.
Character interaction is ok but we are bogged down with it.

Would it kill them to send the characters back to the subdivision and search for supplies?
How about that little town explore a bit.
Check out some other farms.
Don't just hang out where they are.

I haven't read the comics so I have no idea what is coming and from what they keep saying it does not follow the comic exactly.
I was kind of expecting the little girl to be dead but was hoping she would turn up alive.
What was a real surprise was Rick being the one to put her down.

Besides think how boring it would be if everyone sang hosannas to the writers and actors.
Constructive criticism is important.

my brother was saying "watch I bet you Sophia will be in the barn!" but I thought nah...if she was then Glenn would have seen her. So, what do you guys think, did Herschel know they had Sophia in the barn but kept it as a secret to keep Rick' group away from the barn or what other reason would it be?

As far as I know, Herschel didn't know what Sophia looked like so even if he had put her there himself (which he might not have) he wouldn't know if he did. As much as he wanted to keep Rick & Co. away from the barn, he wanted them gone even more and that would have been incentive enough to say something if he knew.
"Imagine"? "nothing to kill or die for"? Having nothing worth dying for, or killing for, is having nothing worth living for.

Being curious I did some looking around on the internet and there are tons of people who agree with my views of the show.
The producers need to listen to what their detractors are saying.
Fan boys are going to be easy to please.
BUT fan boys singing praises are not what is going to keep the series going.
We have seen great shows fail because they could not pull in the general audience.
This is going to be the case with this show.

If you really like the show and want it to have a long run you need to write or email the people who are in charge.
Maybe this will make a difference.
This season is what it is but perhaps they can pull it out of the toilet it has become bogged down in next season.

I say to you guys who love this show "just the way it is" go to the health food store and buy some estrogen blockers.
If it is soap operas you want try this http://soapcentral.c...tral/index.php.

Now all that being said I like the show and think it has potential.
There is nothing wrong with them hanging at the farm.
There is nothing wrong with romance on the show.
Character development is important.
What they need is moderation and variety.

I liked the scenes in the subdivision and where they were searching the cars.
The scene where the Zombie in the store grabbed farm girl was great.
We want more of that kind of stuff and less blah blah blah.
They need to find the right mix or they are going to disappear.

I'm picking up on what you're laying down for sure, I also think that the show is in uncharted territory. How many zombie series have we seen? :blowingsmoke:

Liking something does not equal fanboy, just as not liking something doesn't equal hater, I just take the show for what it is. I don't see how all the complaining about this or that will not get the writers to change the story, hell, the story is already scripted. Kirkman has been working on it for about 8 years. I wonder how shows have been reworked because fans were complaining? :duuno:

That all said, I have tons of issues with the show. Last season, the CDC plot was terrible. The entire survivor party was entirely to lax at camp for what was going on in the world.

This season I hated the school scene, all those zombies in the parking lot and not a one wondering around anywhere else? Really? They sneak into the FEMA truck and make a lot of noise leaving it. Not a single zombie in the school? Just a silly chase scene? :duuno: I could go on but whats the point?

We have a third season slated so they are doing something right.

We've seen a lot of evidence that the zombies are "herd" animals. That would tend to make them NOT wander about.

As I've said before, they need a simple mechanism to "herd" the zombies away from building entrances and exits. Something along the lines of:

Pretty funny and would probably work well with the right "bait". Not sure if they would just follow a RC car, tho they did investigate the flares being tossed. (yet not a single zed saw Shane and Otis behind the car tossing them)

i for one was disappointed when i heard that they fired the director. that guy was an established quality maker. he made the show look like an actual movie.

You think that the production quality was lower this season? Personally I don't. Everything looked great IMO.

WOW somebody really went to a lot of effort just to critique a tv series.

For starters I LOVED the comic from issue 1! I have been a fan every since that very first issue.

Secondly, the TV series is loosley based on the comic which is about up to issue 12 so far. But they are going back and forth a lil bit.

Thirdly, alllll that negativity about the budget and things... would you rather there NOT even be a tv show?

I for one enjoy the series on its own merit simply because i LOVE zombies. And I have seen some TERRIBLE movies that should NEVER EVER have been mnade LOL God help us on some of those bombs! lol But Im not one of those people who sit there and complain about each and evert thing that happens or didnt happen.

I will say this: i didnt like how they gave soooooo much air time to looking for Sophia. After 2 episodes I knew she was going to end up being turned into a zombie. I just wish it didnt take so long, BUT there was a purpose... we got to see a side of Darryl that explains a LOT.

AND as far as Darryl goes... I can see how hes changed and for what reason. I dont think he was EVER as bad as Merle. He just needs a reason to be better and looking for Sophia gave him a REASON to keep going. A reason NOT to continue in his brothers footsteps of hatred. Had he been in another group of people like his brother then I think by all means he would have stayed that racist bad azz and he as hateful as Merle.

But since he have never lived up to his brothers expectations... he doesnt have to now.

So true. All of it! My wife and I are big fans of The Walking Dead but what frustrates me most is when they waste so much time on dialog. I wants me some zombie killin'!!!

Zombies do use tools. Assuming your basing your rule system off of the GAR universe. NIGHT 68, a zombie (who moves pretty fast) uses a rock to break Barbras car window open.

Also in Dawn of the Dead a zombie uses a tyre iron to smash the window of the truck Roger was hotwiring. There was even a discussion on the TV with that grouchy scientist talking about how zombies will use basic bludgeons. Then of course there's Bub and Big Daddy.

My wife and I also are huge fans of The Walking Dead, however, I have to politely disagree with you on the point of the dialog. This show is one of the best written shows I've had the pleasure to experience. The dialog, while at times may seem lengthy, makes the payoff of the action all the better.

I got rid of TV a few months ago and at the time I was disappointed I wasn't going to see the show again for sometime, then the first season appeared on Netflix and I watched through them. I quickly realized that the first time through the season I was very into the idea of the show but going back through it I realized how character heavy it was and not really what I wanted it to be. I understand that the story is about the characters but it's about the struggles between them, not the struggles they face as a result of the zombies. You could quite literally take the undead completely out of that series and I don't think it would be very different.
I have never read the original source material but the show I, personally, compare to a soap opera, the story about the friend cheating with his wife, the outcast, the quiet guy with the courage (who probably ends up saving the day) the indecision.

I don't hate the series and if the other seasons came onto Netflix I would probably watch them but the show certainly does not stroke my zombie fan spine

Well, The Walking Dead is not for everyone. I've watched it from the beginning and plan to stick with it until the end. It may be a little heavy on the soap opera side of things, but there is enough action to keep me interested and enough zombies to keep it fun! At least the show makes sense, unlike that turd called Lost which was on a few years ago.

Same here! I don't think there has been another show I've religiously watched like this since Boy Meets World first aired in the 1990s. It is heavy on characters, but I think that works for the most part, as long as they don't forget about the zombies altogether. There were a couple of episodes that were very light on the zombies and plot development, which just seemed like a waste of an episode. Stories need one of two things at all times: plot development and/or character development. There was one or two episodes in the first half of S2 that just seemed to be full of mundane monologues and reiterations (via dialogue, not actions) of past events. But nevertheless, I think the show is well done- roughly true to the basic storyline of the comic books but different enough that you don't know what will actually happen (though I haven't read all of the comics yet).

Ugh, I agree completely about Lost! I started watching it on Netflix (never saw it during it's original airing) and it was just so frustrating to watch- so many questions, and only the most minute ones ever answered. I stopped watching after the first season.
Have you hugged a zombie today? DON'T!
