Who else is getting this and what are you most excited about? From what I've seen it appears to have the Co-op of Left 4 Dead and the story of Dead Rising so it's the best of both worlds to me and I'm excited to get some new zombie gaming on my Xbox 360.
Just gonna be tough splitting time between this and the new Madden!

This game is going to be immense. I've been waiting since 2007. They started on it, but didn't get a publisher so it was postponed. 4 years later, I'm literally counting down the days until it's released. As for Madden, don't bother. This game is going to be absolutely mind-blowing.

I've watched some gameplay footage.
It's totally the kind of game that i could sit for hours playing.
Really looking forward to this coming out, too bad it wont be as epic as the trailer
oh well

got it after work today.. put a couple of hours into it.. it's good.. controls are touchy and its difficult to have good situational awareness since the zombies come from anywhere lol
I am playing .. **** forgot his name already the blunt weapon character.. I may start over with a different character just to see the game play differences
there is tons of looting, all kinds of crafting items, random garbage (seemingly) and weapons. It's early still but I have yet to find a firearm.
The AI is intelligent, often trying to flank you or get behind you and the damage model is good, again I would like to try another character just to see the differences. I have smashed in quite a few heads but not many severed limbs yet :\
I briefly tried the co-op, it was cumbersome and much like L4D and NAZ I feel you will need the mic to co-ordinate effectively
The map seems to be pretty big, I got lost in a truck and drove for a while before I realized how to turn on the ingame GPS. The world is gorgeous, the water is great the vegetation is excellent, the rock formations are a little blocky with sharp edges but it's such a minor complaint.
Quests are easy to come by and often rewarding with XP, an item, weapon or cash - cash used to purchase new weapons, repair existing weapons, upgrade weapons or to buy items. It seems to be plentiful and only in short demand if youve got a lot of repairs to do or upgrade a weapon from lvl1 to 4
Probably going to go back and play a little more before I call it a night, give co-op a run for it's money..
if anyone wants to play I am on xbox gamer tag is TalinBrickrage

I got it on Steam - was good until they 'patched' which made the game unplayable with others. However, I am really pleased with this. I have always wanted a FPS zombie game, and Left 4 Dead was good, but a better story line and more cooperation rather than competition.
I don't think that the game is cross-platform, though, so I don't think I can play with ya ;-]

FYI...Dead Island Steam Fix
Yesterday Goon told you all about the fiasco on Steam for Dead Island. Put simply the game people bought and downloaded was not the final game but some sort of rough copy. As a result we encouraged you to hold off purchasing Dead Island on Steam. Today however we have good news as a fix for Dead Island is now on Steam. Here is what the developers had to say this morning;
North American PC users: The correct version of Dead Island is now live. Please check our news update at the link for further info. Thank you very very much for your patience and understanding
So if you bought Dead Island on Steam head on over and download the FIX so you have the correct final version of the game. I will be going out and buying a copy of [Read More Here]

This game looks so cool. I might have to upgrade my PC before I get it though. My system probably can play it but I'd have to have all the settings on low. And low settings on a game like this... NEVER!!!

I'm thinking of getting this.. I'm not much of a gamer anymore, but I'm not sure I'd like the whole melee aspect. I mean, I know there are firearms in the game, but aren't they kept to a minimum?
On one hand, the game designers have a point, it's more realistic that you wouldn't find a large cache of firearms on a vacation island and have to improvise with hand-held weapons, but OTOH.. shooting them is hella more fun, and in reality, who'd really want to go mano e mano with an undead ghoul ?- that's not in the anti-zombie corporation's "Best Practices" manifesto.
I will give them credit however for having the main characters "resistant" to the infection, so they kinda skirt around a major issue with melee.
I'd just really like a little section of the game where I could barricade myself on a balcony or a roof with a sniper rifle, take my time and take 100 of those suckers out with spectacular head shots. That would give me giggles.
At least they don't appear to have too many "special" zombies, that's what really, really annoyed me about Left4Dead. It was just stupid, IMO, what does a witch have to do with zombieism, and then there were the irritating smokers and the creepers.. what th..? I want zombies in my zombie games, not alien mutants! I understand it's good to switch things up a bit and offer new and greater challenges occasionally, but I think raiders could fit that bill, rather than go with the "Resident Evil" route.

So what kinds of tactics have you guys been using? I think I've only been hit about 4 maybe 5 times... Due to mainly my own mistakes... But I've predominately using the same tactics repeatedly to take out the walkers and runners. Drawing them out, bottlenecking, or getting on top of cars and higher elevations. I'm in act 2 now so it's been pretty steady. I haven't died yet so my tactics must be working.

Really liking this one! Haven't tried co-op yet I just got a headset with a mic so I can't wait to play with some other people. I do wish they had put in some type of split screen for two-player but what can you do eh?
Those who have escaped the dark and terrible aspects of life will find my brutality, my flash of rage in our final tragedy, easy enough to blame; for they know what is wrong as well as any, but not what is possible to tortured men. But those who have been under the shadow, who have gone down at last to elemental things, will have a wider charity.

I like this game, but they made it it kind of hard. I can't even count how many times I have died by simply being out numbered!!

I've been using lots of jump kicks. It knocks them flat. Then just a matter of smashing the skull with a weapon (or crushing it with a power stomp now that I have that skill) before they can get up. Even against multiple zombies. The jump kick uses alot of stamina though so you have to be careful when you are against more than one. I've found jump kicking the first one or two to knock them flat, then a regular kick (which uses no stamina) to knock back/down any others. Then before the prone zombies can get up smashing skulls based on who's likely to get up first. Works quite well for me. Very effective against Walkers, a little tricky against multiple Infected considering their speed and how fast they recover from knock downs and knock backs. But still doable.
I've found molotovs to be very handy for taking out Thugs and those ramming bastards. I've made sure I have lots of those.
Anybody made much use of the Fury ability? I've played with it a bit but haven't found many uses for it. It doesn't last long enough. The first time I tried to use Fury against a Thug I smashed the crap out of it very easily. I thought "awesome, so this is how you can beat those guys." Any time I tried it after that, though, I got a couple of hits in before being knocked down. By the time I got up again the Fury had run out. This was before I started using molotovs against them.
I've got to say that the knock downs are a little silly. Mainly because whatever knocks you down, as well as any other nearby attacking zombies, ignore you until you get up. Whenever I've been knocked down by a Thug, they always turn around and start walking away. I've even been rammed an Infected and knocked down and then they just stood there shrieking and flailing the way they do but didn't actually follow up. Seems a bit silly to me.
Anyway, great game. Really, really addictive. I'm also up to Act II and I'm loving this ruined city they have you running around in. Heaps of zombies to play with here. Very cool stuff.

Sorry for going off topic.
Actually I do not remember the name, but I remember an older zombie movie where they did rise from the grave.
