This has recently been released on DVD.

Then it's not really an "upcoming zombie movie" is it ;-P

REC was better than Quarantine. :blowingsmoke:

Oh most definitely, that goes without saying. I'm glad Quarantine 2 isn't a remake of [Rec]2, but went its own way. The only shaky-cam-type stuff used in this one was towards the end, using heat signature goggles-thingie. Not quite as eerie as the green-hued night vision from the first movie, and neither Quarantines were as effective in this regard (or any other for that matter) as either [Rec]s.

It sounds like it could be a Flight of the Living Dead remake, only with a more popular title.

I don't really like this idea, since there doesn't seem to be much room for movement on a plane.

It was a bit like Flight of the Living Dead at first, but I'd say about 3/4ths of the movie takes place in a tarmac/terminal setting, after an emergency landing (at the end we find out they landed in Las Vegas).

Is this even a continuation from Quarantine, or are 1 and 2 loosely connected?
I haven't seen REC 2, but i take it both movies have now gone their separate ways?

It's not a direct continuation like [Rec]2 was to the first [Rec]. It's more loosely connected, and fleshes out a bit more of the background of the virus.
Yeah, Quarantine 2 has nothing to do with [Rec]2.

I don't think much of the real action really occurs until the plane is on the ground and the passengers are in the tarmac though...

Yeah, if you're concerned about action, it really gets going, albeit in spurts, once the plane lands.

I've watched Deadtime Stories. It seems like it's a Master's of Horror wannabe. I can't blame him for needing the money, but i don't know if it's worth selling out his name.

There's always been anthology horror/sci-fi/mystery TV series, the most famous being The Twilight Zone. Don't forget George also produced Tales from the Darkside in the 80s.

This came out pretty low key didn't it? I thought Quarantine had a big budget? I've barely even heard about this. For the record, I really enjoyed REC. Quarantine was just OK compared to it, but I'd like to see more done with the series.

According to Wikipedia, Quarantine's budget was $12 million, and Quarantine 2's was $3 million with "a limited release in theatres on June 17, 2011. The DVD was released on August 2, 2011 in the United States." So two months after a pretty limited release, the DVD came out.

A plane is taken over by a mysterious virus. When the plane lands it is placed under quarantine. Now a group of survivors must band together to survive the quarantine.

This came out of nowhere for me. I'd never heard of it before its release. Might be worth a watch.

I think they should have just remade REC 2 and did Quaranetine 2: Terminal as a third movie. REC 2 was soooo much better because it takes place right near the end of REC 1 in the same apartment building.

Q2 takes place AS Q1 is happening and involves a second person who had worked with the old rat man who "released" the virus .

the Terminal was too slow and predictable

No, they don't need to remake Rec 2. Ever.

I liked it, and it kept my attention without my mind wandering. The acting was not top notch, but it was a step above most of the cheesy B titles I have been watching lately. It was definitely way better than Flight of the Dead, and I liked the continuation of the story from Quarantine. At least it tied it all together.

There's the trailer link above and I watched it last night and enjoyed it better than the 1st Quarantine.

Some of you may saw they are not zombies but just infected people but in this film they bite and do cause people to die and they come back alive and haul ass after more blood and meat lol.

This film was gorier than the 1st one too.

Give it a watch sometime soon.

In Rec 2 they were still in the apartment building but in Quarantine 2 it's a totally different film that Rec 2 and they are on airplane when the virus is leaked and must land and are quarantined in a airport terminal.

Yeah, Rec2 is a completely different film from Quarantine 2, as Q2 is a direct sequel to Quarantine and not a remake of R2. I agree with RIP, I think it's better than the original Quarantine (which, of course, is nowhere near as good as the original Rec it was Americanizing).

Lol I don't know if I'd go 10 stars, but I did like some of the premises, just off the top of my head since I watched it when it came onto DVD.
The whole thing about having to make due I loved, since it would be how the 'real life situation' would have to be handled, and the fact that they only have one gun and limited ammo I personally felt was directed at me. FINALLY. They couldn't find the infinite ammo cheat apparently. The fact that they were asking questions too and not just being total drones kind of made me a little proud too. "Um, how the fuck did you get a gun through customs, you're full of shit." No?!?! Really?!?!? Thank god. But I digress.
All in all, like as been stated, them taking their film in their own direction really made it stand out. And personally, after watching REC2 and loving the hell out of it, I felt kind of proud America didn't feel the need to crap all over it. Sadly, why I figure it was done like this is because 'religion' is too touchy here in the states, and terrorists are just at their peak. I kind of felt like the religious aspect in REC2 was sort of a let down either way lol but terrorists was a total cop out as well. Guess thats the only two ways things like this can spread. Either satan or terrorists.

Nooo no no, [Rec] is the original Spanish zombie film that Quarantine is a remake of (and a better film all around, as the originals almost always are). [Rec]2 is the sequel to [Rec]. Quarantine 2 is the sequel to Quarantine, and not a remake of [Rec]2.

See......this is the problem with American remakes of movie that should have been released here in the beginning without the pointless remakes ever being made.

Quarantine 2 is a dumb sequel to a pointless American remake to a great Spanish movie. Rec 2 is also great and goes into very interesting territory. Unlike the dumbed down American sequel that relies on pitiful screen writing like including the token black guy who magically smuggles a gun in his luggage onto a plane in post 911 America.
This movie if fucking stupid.

I liked it.

It wasn't the token black guy that brought on the gun, it was the almost obligatory antagonist guy.

I like the movie...It was stupid in almost every way, but I still enjoyed it. Weird.

I could sit through it again more than I could Prometheus. (one of the major disappointments of my movie life)
