Zombieland

I enjoyed Zombieland primarily from the rules perspective. It was fun watching somebody compartmentalize the experience of escaping zombies into an everyday handy list. Tallahassee's constant search for twinkies also tickled my funnybone.
I don't care if all of my zombie movies are intense, serious flights from the undead. As long as there ARE zombies in the movie, do whatever you want to the surrounding storyline.

I think this is why i enjoyed it too. "Double Tap" became popular. Also i'm sure the ending left a good impression of the movie on many. It was intended for a tv series, so i can understand the slower start. Hopefully, they'll listen to those that say there hadn't been enough zombies and pick up the pace for the sequels.

It wasn't my favorite movie, but it did everything I expected it to be. Mainly be a Hollywood movie made to be like a indie movie. The saving part of the movie for me was Woody Harrelson. I didn't really like the romance involving Jesse Eisenburg. If you're looking for a humorous satire on zombie movies, take a look at Shaun of the Dead. This just didn't do it for me like that movie. The movie attempted to be over the top, but wasn't over the top enough, so it just kind of droned on in the middle.

Shaun of the Dead was brilliant because it was made by die hard zombie fans. Unlike the makers of Zombieland.

Lmao, how dare you bring logic into this, we are trying to make a serious undertones comedy here, if you want logic Gtfo :) That part actually made me laugh.. More or less I feel like they used video game logic and people just bought into it.

IMO, besides being a not so funny Zombie comedy, it really failed due to the Zombies being Olympic level sprinters! Just like in the Dawn of the dead remake! WTF! How do rotting, decomposing corpses get reanimated as world class sprinters?
I hate running zombies. They are dead & stiff, they should be slow walking staggering shamblers like in the Romero "Dead" movies, Fulcio's 'Zombie or the kick ass new zombie movie, 'The Dead". Those moving at the speed of a sloth MoFos scare the crap outta me!
Shaun of the dead knew that slow moving zombies are the way to go & that along with a kick butt funny plot made it the classic it is today.
The ROTLD 1st 2 movies were good, especially the 1st one, but the only thing I didn't like was that they made the zombies talk. That kinda made them less scary to me.

That is because Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg are genuine zombie fans and the guys who made Zombieland are just some assholes who are not even horror fans. They were just using zombies to kick start their comedy movie career. That's why their movie does not hold up. And their 2nd movie failed. Ha!

Personally I think sprinters are awesome and Zombieland did a really good job with the zombies themselves. I just thought the movie wasn't particularly funny and the characters were more annoying than amusing. That and as good as the zombies were there was just bugger all of them.

Infected sprinters are okay with me, zombie sprinters is just bad for business.
Zombieland failed for me because the zombies were used only when it was convenient. For example, they mosey on down to downtown LA and there are a handful of zombies that go after them when they stop to pick up a brochure...really, the dead are walking the earth and you stop for a star guide?? LA should be jammed with the dead. They shouldn't have been able to even get close to the center of the city.....the movie had some funny stuff in it but it lacks any replay value because as a zombie movie it's a farce.

Even though I have no problems with changing rules or coming up with whole new mythologies for zombies....
Sprinting zombies is just as ridiculous as sparkling vampires.

I actually like Zombieland, and without that movie I do not think we would have seen another resurgence of the zombie genre. The film may not have been as pure to the art form, but I feel it was open to a more general audience. I think the genre needed a commercial success to keep going. Otherwise we might have been subject to The Dark Ages of the 1990s again.
