I don't care for Lori either, but she did have a good reason to be upset with Rick. It was all in his wording. He should have put more emphasis on the fact that Shane had tried to kill him first and it was self-defense. Instead, he made it seem pre-meditated from his end by saying he had wanted the game to end...that Shane had to die and he was glad it was over.

I haven't forgotten that... or the fact that she apologized to Shane for being such a bitch and denying that she had had feelings for him shorty after that. It's a difficult situation at best, and even though I don't care for her character, it is played well by the actress. There is no way Lori couldn't have some feelings for Shane, and I'm sure his death was a shock to her and her husband was pretty crass about it the whole issue of killing him.

The season finale was AWESOME

Besides the whole zombie battle royale my favorite scenes were

The Zombies comming up the hill as the barn falls

The hooded stranger that saved Andrea, my favorite character now that Shane is gone. Love that The hooded stranger had the two armless walkers on chains, dont know if that will work well in real life, not comic book, next season. But still Damn that was great.

Lori's Reaction when Rick told her that he had to kill Shane, I mean WTF ? I know Im acting like an old lady watching soap operas but this is one of the great things about The Walking Dead, all the drama.

Rick setting down the law was about time

The noise they heard in the woods as they were around the campfire, was it an animal? a walker? or Somebody from the prision investagating the source of the fire? Now we have the spring and summer to wait for season three.

Fuck yeah it was. Hopefully that satisfied all the fans who were complaining that there wasn't enough zombies.

WHO WAS THAT PERSON?!
Well after watching The Talking Dead I now know.. interesting. The group needs something like her at this point. That shot of her leading those two zombies.. god that was creepy and spooky. Really took it up a notch for the show, a real horror image. Apparently the arms and jaws of the zombies were taken off so they're not a threat to her. I can't wait to check out her character next season.

The last shot was of a prison.. now that would be a good place to go to hole up. It's made to keep people in, and therefore would be great at keeping zombies out. Some prisons have their own gardens and things too.

Lori's Reaction when Rick told her that he had to kill Shane, I mean WTF?

Yeah, I was rather astounded. Rick didn't exactly word it right like Zombreach said. Why he put so much emphasis on "wanting to get it over with" I'm not sure. I think he was feeling guilty and wanted to be punished for killing his best friend, because Rick is an honorable man. But he really had no choice. Lori is just more mad at herself, mad at the situation, and Rick's an easy target for that. She'll come around. But yes. Bitch.

Rick setting down the law was about time

Yeah right. On The Talking Dead they called it a Ricktatorship, lol. In quick decision-making situations I can just blindly following Rick, but for major decisions (like whether or not to kill a person) a democracy is still best. Rick isn't privy to some information that nobody else is. He's not that special.

I just thought that was in there to show how damn spooked they all were. I mean Glen's girlfriend was ready to take off because of a random noise in the dark forest. Everyone was on ultra-high alert.

It will be interesting when they get inside the prision. It has been a hot topic here at ATZ in the Undead survival and defense section about prisions since I been here.

One thing the Actors and actresses are doing a fantastic job on their characters. Best I seen in TV from book to screen since Stephen King's TV mini series The Stand.

As far as Lori being a B **** She just made the show more interesting with her reaction on the news about Shane, I hope Lori stays around.

the only thing that did kind of bug me, but no big deal was Hersel who keep firing, and firing his shotgun with reloading. I think I saw him reload his shotgun once. Im glad hersel sticked around, anfd Finally T-Dog got to kill some zombies, He better hope that Meryl doesnt get a HAND on him next season for what he did back on the roof in Alanta.

I was wondering what people thought of the beginning scene with the helocopter and the zombie herd ?

I nearly forgot about the helicopter. THAT was amazing. I hope we get to meet those survivors.
That was one of the big surprises/reveals in the finale:

  • helicopter
  • prison
  • hooded figure
  • everyone's infected

I wish we had some idea of just how far they drove, away from the farm. Couldn't have been that far, maybe a 100 miles?

The zombie herd was very cool. In the comic book they describe a herd as being a force of nature, I think that sums it up nicely. :blowingsmoke:

That helicopter was the same one that Rick saw in the beginning of the series when he rode into Atlanta. I thought it was very cool to show a seemingly innocent event turn into something totally horrific.

I still think they could have led the Zeds away from the farm. It looked like the helicopter in Atlanta set them on a course. The "herd" kept moving in that direction until something else changed their direction. Just set the herd on a new course, away from the farm, and get out of the way without them seeing you. It would have cost them a lot less ammunition.

But... the characters in the show don't know they could've done that, even if it is possible to do such a thing. You have an omnipresent view of the situation. The individual characters do not. It's only the second herd they've ever come across.

Quote

they can't climb a 4-foot wooden fence in front of them? Or divert around it?

Who knows; zombies are dumb. Maybe it's because they didn't have any tantalizing human flesh writhing around directly in front of them.

When did Rick lie about Shane? I don't get it.

I also liked that most of them had the same idea about rallying to the highway to regroup, pretty cool.

Even in the episode, Andrea commented they should draw them away from the farm.

And they have "herded" the Zeds before, or at least drew them off -- Glen with his honking car in Atlanta, and Otis and Shane at the school.

I've been harping about "herding" ever since Glen with the car, before I even knew how strong a power it COULD be. Remember the YouTube video link I posted as an example?

He told his wife that Shane took him further and further into the woods, planning to kill him. They were nearly home when they had the confrontation.

Rick should have confessed about Shane when they were doing the body count on the highway. His own guilt is gonna eat away at him just like it did on Shane.

Getting their attention and actually herding them are different. It might be possible. But for such a large group like that, and in the dark, with the zombies being scattered and the group being all separated, no, there's just no way. It was too last-minute and sudden to implement such an organized effort.

Shane did lead him more and more into the woods. Or at least continued to lead him while they were in the woods.
Rick has already confessed, I see no lying. Everybody knows Rick killed Shane and knows that Rick thinks it was necessary and he had no other choice (he didn't). Even with that, he's going to carry that guilt for some time.

I really loved Ricks reaction when mulling things over. I think he put so much emphasis on just wanting it all to end because rightfully he knew what was going to happen. He knew the entire time what they were leading towards but he kept going. He got up to the kill point finally and did what he went there to do. Honestly, Rick basically committed murder, and going along with it all makes it so. He said he gave him every chance but did he or is he trying to convince himself? Everything else after the fact is him trying to justify to himself committing murder, which if Dale was around he would tell him, there is no justification. He pleads his hands are clean but they're not and neither is his conscious. I think the real tipping point was how vague Rick was about Carl putting Shane down. For all she knows, Rick had Carl out there, or Rick made Carl put him down. Which, of course is crazy, but in her place with how he was saying everything out I'm sure it would be a possibility to her. The fact that he would allow Carl to do such a thing also probably threw her over the edge. My two cents.

Well, it looks as though the TV show is going to remedy that for me.
And I might argue that the people that have read the books are missing out on a greater element of surprise. I'm experiencing all of these characters, situations; indeed, the whole universe of The Walking Dead, in any form, for the first time while watching the show.
