Spidey senses.
No, for real, I think that when you post on any kind of survival forums long enough, you just learn to pick on subtle cues based on the things people say.
One thing that's weird... I've noticed that the more detailed and specific a person's "survival plan" is, the more full of **** they turn out to be in the long run. Somebody who actively prepares and uses their stuff will say "Bring a flashlight" while the posers will tell you the exact brand and model number of every flashlight they've added to their wish list on amazon.

Or they don't just have an AR-15. They have an AR-15 and an exact list of every accessory that came out in the last year.

Just from being here, I'd have to say alphabet soups and too detailed descriptions.
Not to mention calling out weapons that don't exist.

I guess I'm doomed because I thought Walmart was a smart idea due to selection and low looting prices.
One improvement for my survival plan, I bought an Alice pack from a military surplus this morning. Quite a step up from my son's old bookbag. Now to fill this big b!tch!

Chances are, Cav, you did do it. Did it bravely and with honor, and didn't brag about it after it was all over...

In all reality Boomstick, you seem smart enough that you'd turn around and pick a different plan as soon as you saw the chaos at Wal-Mart.
Where I live, Wal-Mart is across the street from the mall and two gas stations, next door to a Home Depot, and about a quarter mile down the road from a police station. That whole area would be a war zone...

*Puffs chest out* and says thank you. My nearest Walmart is a 1hr and 15min drive so it really wouldn't have been my first choice, that was only for my senario. My biggest problems here would be the harsh winters, zombies and rednecks that would turn into evil groups with no law. Lots of weapons in my region, so looting could get ugly. Have you ever heard of zombies freezing in winter and reanimating in spring? Thought?

I think that is the generally accepted idea.
If you haven't read World War Z, you should. If I recall correctly, he talks about communities in the north organizing teams, or just individuals to hike around during the spring thaw and dispatch zombies before they fully thaw out. Kind of like post-apocalyptic park rangers...

Thanks Knot. Kinds reminds me of the peasant women and some families that would follow the ancient wars and kill the wounded and take any belongings that were left behind as the machine of war moved on.
