paultagonist- Yes, I am very much aware of Chainsaw Maid 1 and 2....the first one came out right when I was sculpting some zombies and I was very jealous of its success and being featured on Youtube...I think thats why I held off on continuing "Holiday Weekend" at the time because I didnt want to be grouped with that video...and the sequel to Chainsaw maid is very well done aswell, but to me, its very odd that a stop motion artist with so much talent like the guy that produced the sequal, would just straight up copy and continue some one elses work, even replicating the sculpts...I wouldnt be to pleased if some one did that to "Holiday Weekend", its just as confusing to me as Hollywood executive remaking "Nightmare on Elm Street"....
Also I noticed a trend in claymation Zombie pieces, they all seem to use Chainsaws.....I wanted my peice to be more like "Final Destination" with the kills, like the most unexpected random methods of destroying zombies ina log cabin with barely anything in it....not too mention I have an extremely well rounded and articulate background story that will allow for almost endless "Holiday Weekend" stories....
...So yeah, while I was creating "Holiday Weekend" , everything was made to "one up" Chainsaw Maid 1 & 2...I set out to make "the best" zombie clayamtion on the web, so I wanted to make superior sculpts, superior set details, and most of all realistic blood, well realistic in terms of its dark red appearance rather than the bright rose red blood used in the other pieces....
....and It's so cool you found "Recession 2009" and posted it, those two zombies were supposed to be for "Holiday Weekend", they were two of the zombies I sculpted when "Chainsaw Maid" came out....I had them stored in a plastic bin for years where some how they dried out to the point where they were just crumbling and breaking apart.....I was unemployed and having a really horrible year trying to get a job, so I did the only thing I knew how to do, and made it a tribute to the Recession that was kicking my life's ass!
morbidfilm- your right, the ax kills were very "buttery" something I didnt set out to do, but it works very well with the story, becuase in "holiday Weekend" the zombies are all severely rotted and decomposed, very easy to kill.
