Suppose you could do that... Assuming electricity works on them. Or you could just as easily use the electricity to power lights, homes, and such instead. Couple thoughts. How many volts would you have to be producing to create a respectable electric fence that you could potentially light them on fire with? How easy would it be to generate that amount of power off a river.
I'll take a stab at this. im an electrician thus what somewhat "inpsired" me to start this thread. Amps are what kill people, not volts, mostly stopping the heart. For example, a taser is high voltage, around 50k IIRC, but no amps. Its said less than an amp can stop an unhealthy heart. Amps and watts are consumed to make something work. Take a can opener for example, when its plugged in there is voltage (120 volts in most US households) in the cable up to the switch which is usually in the handle, but no amps are going thru it untill you press the handle and make it work. Same as batteries, there is always voltage at the battery terminals (if its not dead), but no power/amperage is being used until hooked up to a load or something that is drawing the amps. So in a nutshell, I think it would take a lot of stored power to effectively kill say a human raid on a perimiter. To totally make a body inflame would take a massive amount I would think, since it would be a prolonged period of a large omount of amperage being consumed, how much I have couldnt say...
Without getting to deep or off course, the body would also have to be effectively grounded and also making proper continuity with the power source. We heard of people getting hit by lightning and living before. That usually because they were well insulated. Well grounded would have just the opposite effect. In a car, tires are insulating it from the road since rubber is not a good conductor. If the were metal, they would be in bond to the road since metals are good conductors. Same with a human body. If you grabbed a live wire with one hand and had well insulated shoes on, were dry, and no other part of the body was touching anything conductive, chances are you would just get a buzzing sensation where you were touching the wire. Stand in a mud puddle where your body is making contact with the water and touch a live wire and aperage will pass through your hand through your body and feet where it is in contact with the gound, possibly stopping your heart. If contact is made long enough, something is either going to heat up and burn, ending the connectivity of the power source and the body, or a breaker/fuse will trip, just like ones in a house, preventing an overload of amperage. So to effectively burn a body, several things must happen-enough amperage, proper conectivity of the body to ground, and nothing preventing that amperage from stopping abruptly before the body is burnt like a fuse or breaker.
Ok, what about a bit more practical devices such as reusable or resettable booby traps? Im thinking of the old step on the rake and the handle smacks you in the head cliche. Except with just being smacked in the head with the wooden handle, maybe put a spike in it and add a counter weight so the rake/shovel will fall back on the ground and be ready to shank the next zeds skull. Damn Im bored

Diary is supposed to be along the same timeline as Romeros 1968 NotLD. That's what makes it so bloody unrealistic. Those cameras didn't exist in 1968 and there definately weren't computers or an internet.

The thing about NOTLD '68 is the lack of tech.
Except for the old TVs and cars, it could have taken place at any time over the last 50 yrs or so...
Zombies require a certain suspension of disbelief anyway so the disparity of eras wasn't that much of a stretch...for me anyway...

Exactely. The differences in technology displayed just won't allow me to suspend disbelief that far. Modern homes have at least an LCD TV or even just one with a remote and no dials on the front.

Maybe a year ago, I couldn't have forgotten that much.
Are you talking about the NG guys? I don't remember dials on the tv in Diary. But I do remember laptops, cell phones, camcorders and alarm systems.

No, I was talking about the technology in NotLD. Old vacuum tube radios and TVs with dials on the fronts.

I thought we were talking about Diary. Wasn't the original made in 1968? It was before my time so I don't know what radios and tv looked like.

Yep, and that's the problem. The original ws made in 1968 yet Diary is supposed to be during the same time period. It just doesn't work for me.

What do you mean same time period? All the props and wardrobe were modern, except for a few gas pumps in that tiny town. Did I miss something?
Even the cops in the opening scene were carrying autos.

I was talking about the way the two armed groups interacted with the main characters.
