Set about 5 years after Breakout 0, life has started to resume itself in many pockets across the world. 89% of the big cities in the world are infested zones where there is a slow battle going on to reclaim the cities. Several cities however were nuked in the first year of the outbreak, leaving them inhospitable. The death toll of the outbreak was guesstimated to almost 67% of the world's population, and the numbers still rise. But life has started to go on.

Many things have changed in this new world. Technology has evolved to the zombie plague such as early detection and warning things. An automated headshot machine is still in development. The right to bear arms is enforced only to the degree of registering the weapons you possess. Cars, houses, and towns have taken up various alterations for protection such as blood test locks and armor reinforcement. It has also been discovered that there are some rare people with a strange immunity to the infection of the virus, but normal infection from being bitten has still killed many. A bite is still treated as a death sentence as the test to be sure of an immunity to the virus requires sending off a blood sample to a lab that is allowed under strict restrictions to have viral blood. The cost of such a test is pricey due to the danger of testing with viral blood which is almost as infectious as a bite.

Life has changed as well. Politicians are still around, movies are starting to be produced once more, and electronic communication is slowly returning to a stable state. There are those that have settled down in a protected community, others that have joined the Viral Disposal Army which also doubles as security and protection, there are those that research for the new world, and then there are those that keep their ties on the road.

Those people are known as Nomads. Nomads are merchants, delivery men, entertainers, scavengers, and travelers of the dead roads. Nomads brave the infected land and travel from town to town for different reasons, but the first Nomads were people that restored communication between people and delivered needed supplies such as medicine and ammo. Because of this most Nomads are respected as the people that helped life grow in a world of dead. Some Nomads are loners while others stick together in convoys, but if there is something important that needs to be done, a Nomad is the person to trust with the job.

This RP is unique, not set during the first days of the deadly outbreak, but set in the world after the outbreak when humanity has gotten a foothold in this new world. Also, you don’t have to be with everyone, infact everyone will start either on their own or with someone else (both people must agree to start together, use messenger please) until later in the RP when a common theme will bring everyone together. You can still run into others until then if you want to though.
Rules of the RP

Rule 1: Proper grammar must be used. This includes, but is not limited to, spelling, capitalization, spacing, and punctuation. This rule also includes that there shall be no single line posts. At least 4-5 sentences, but an occasional short post is allowed for brain dead moments. This is the grammar rule.
Rule 2: If you’re going to control another person’s character in your post, make sure you have their permission first. This is to prevent god modding. This rule also includes the need to be realistic. You won’t hear a zombie from miles away nor can you score head shot after head shot constantly. This is the realism rule.
Rule 3: Don’t go write a porno graphic novel on us. There are minors on the site (and around some monitors of people who aren’t) I am not going to restrict Adult content such as violence and such, but just use some common sense with the use of NC-17 themes and keep it short. This is the Adult rule.
Rule 4: If you have a problem with someone or something in the RP, do not spam the RP with OOC posts. Take it up with the person in messenger and if that does not work, please contact me and the person in a group message and I will help work things out. This is the peace rule.
Rule 5: Fun. Has it. This is the fun rule, now with 2% more concentrated fun.

This thread is the sign up thread, a place to put your character sheet so that people don’t have to wade through a sea of posts just to see something about a character. And speaking of character sheets here’s what I’m looking for in a basic sense (but you can add more if you wish).

Name: A name
Occupation: What your character does in the new world. Nomad, VRA, politician, etc.
Age: Current age (it’s about 5 years since outbreak 0 so keep that in mind)
Before the outbreak: What your character was before the outbreak of course.
During the outbreak: An in a nut shell account of your person during the outbreak.
Today: What the person does now.
Appearance: Take a wild guess. Also includes weapons and usual items.
Personality: Another wild guess!

Name: Erik Flant
Occupation: Field Reporter
Age: 19 (14 at the time of the outbreak)
Before the outbreak: Erik was a you tuber with an interest of filming ideas put into motion and was a personable person on camera. He had an interest in the medieval ages, even having ordered an authentic short sword from the time which became one of his main weapons during the outbreak.

During the outbreak: Erik had taken his camera with him but the tapes of his journey were lost when he had to abandon his camera one day. His personal story might leave some questions as to the validity of it but he was saved by a group of people that adopted him into their township. After being on the road during the outbreak, he developed a connection to the road and the dangers with it. So he set off down the road, looting a few cameras from a Best Buy as he began to become a reporter on the undead and dealing with them.

Today: He had met up with his new camerawoman and co reporter, Haley Smith, on the road and together they are affiliated with one of the new news networks that formed from the outbreak, The After. Erik is a rising sensation, putting himself in danger for the benefit of others.

Appearance: Sandy blond hair down to his ears. He wears a police vest with the news logo of a crowbar and shotgun crossing printed on there and has knee and elbow pads. He wears a simple pair of blue jeans and a collared shirt. His short sword is strapped to his back and two handguns rest upon his belt with space from additional equipment.
Personality: Sometimes he is impulsive, jumping into something without looking to see how high it is (and jumping anyways when he does look). He has a friendly demeanor towards everyone and is sometimes too easily trusting. When he starts something he is going to finish it because he is a determined person.

Today: Travels at whim, doesn't care about money but works for the dollar transporting goods, individuals who also dont feel comfortable with the VDA, or hunting down wanted members put on a chopping block; keeps himself and his services private.

Name: Dayton Marshall
Occupation: VDA Soldier
Age: 24
Before the outbreak: Bicycle shop mechanic.
During the outbreak: As the outbreak spread, Dayton left his job in the local bike shop to join the Army. Since then, he has been in the army, and soon after, the Viral Disposal Army.
Today: His unit, along with several others are moving across the United States, attempting to take back cities that were conquered by the undead.
Appearance: 6'0, dark brown hair, with a few visible grey streaks in a high and tight Army cut. Wears multi-cam, as does the rest of the army, and is equipped with a Knights Armament Company SR15 as a primary, and a Colt M1911A1 as a secondary. The badges on the front of his uniform indicate his last name, Marshall, and his rank, Staff Sergeant first class.
Personality: Before the outbreak, Dayton was a friendly, sociable person, but 5 years of fighting has taken it's toll on him. He spends most of his down time either planning for the next mission, or on the phone home, to his wife and son, the only people he has shown real emotions for. In battle, he's level headed, and tries to keep his troops the same way.

During the outbreak: Held up in his own basement, along with his wife and then 4 year old son. They had enough supplies in their house and that they had managed to stock at first wind of the outbreak to last them for the main shock of the outbreak. Once the supplies dropped, Ethan ventured out into the new world, hoping to get enough supplies from nearby stores. When he returned home, he found no one. Everything was still there except for Taylor Baxter and Matthew Baxter.
Today: Time healed his aching wounds and he decided to go on a life helping out those who needed it more through his abilty to produce some of the more finer chemical reactions for people whose condition may not be considered serious enough for hospital requirement.
Appearance: Just over 6 foot, short brown hair with a flick at the front. Wears black rimmed glasses, grey button up shirt and black slacks. Wears black steel toed boots and often a white lab coat. On his black leather belt he has a holster containing a 1911. In terms of weapons, he has the 1911 and a Serbu Super-Shorty underneath his driver seat.

Name: Haley Smith
Occupation: Camera woman
Age: 28

Before the outbreak: Worked for the government in special ops--mostly investigative work.

During the outbreak: Spent most of her time in civilian housing--rarely participated in "field" work. She has very limited hands-on experience with the dangers and horrors that occured during that time.

Today: Haley took to the road after the world settled into its new existence to explore the stories of others who had lived through the horror. Meeting up with Erik, she tolerated his adventurous and daring ways, using him as a means to learn more about the new world.

Appearance: Haley has light brown hair, worn straight, and falling just beyond her shoulders. Her features are neither plain nor striking--more of country girl appearance with freckles on her nose and cheeks. Her eyes are a pale green-her most attractive feature. Standing at 5' 6", she has a slender frame--almost tomboyish. She wears faded blue jeans and a button-up blouse--a tank top worn beneath. Carrying a P22 at her waist and a switch blade in her pocket, she is outfitted with the bare essentials for survival on the road, her camera being her main piece of equipment.

Personality: Haley is very curious, interested in everything around her, although she remains behind the camera whenever possible--a back drop to the story. She is very secretive about her own life, perferring others tales to her own.

But just remember, keep in mind Rule 2, the realism rule.
But if you ask me, the S&W Model 500 is one of the last weapons you'd want.

Just a thought.
Wouldn't an automatic headshot machine be kinda easy to make due to facial recognition technology that we currently have?

I think it would be easy to make, but I think what would be difficult is teaching the machine to seperate live humans from undead targets.

Infared cameras. Easy.

Anyways, thought I should write this up. Only for a cameo.

Name: Owen Charmichael
Occupation: Landscaping specialist.
Age: 32
Before the outbreak: Green Beret, explosives expert.
During the outbreak: During the outbreak, Owen was given command over three units of mobile infantry. As things began to revert back to normal, he was relieved, his place taken by Staff Sergeant First Class Dayton Marshall.
Today: Various lawncare and landscaping jobs in the safety within Arcata, California.
Appearance: About 6'0, black hair with purple eyes. When he works he usually wears a pair of tan Dickies, with a Charmichael Landscaping Specialists polo-shirt, or without a shirt when the weather is hot. He also occasionally wears a pair of his military-issue Oakley sunglasses when it's hot, or exceptionally bright.
Personality: Owen, like Dayton, is a loner, but also level-headed. His shyness is ironic, due to him owning his own company. He is not without friends or family. He has a wiife and daughter, and along with his friends, are the only real people he enjoys the company of.
He doesn't seem to be affected to much by the outbreak, or his military duties before the outbreak.

What kind of cold corpses are we dealing with? Runners? Shamblers? Both?

Also..modern currency? Barter system or coin?

Both for both. Runners are a bit more rare but still prelivant and while there have been rumors of viral animals, there has been no proof to back such claims up.

The currency system still includes money, but the barter system holds the greatest value.

I originally was going to take it out because I didn't want everyone in the RP running around with immunity and stuff, but I decided to leave it in.

As long as the immunity isn't abused I will leave it in there. If it gets to the point of abuse I will force the immunity status to be based on a dice roll. Now that this has been said here is the statistics of immunity that I shall have:

Before Outbreak 0, it is guestimated that maybe 16% of the population may have had an immunity to the viral infection. Today the numbers are pure speculation and guess work as a complete list of deaths from the outbreaks and if they turned or not will never be truely made. We guess the percent of the living population that has an immunity in one way or another to the infection is around 6%. Currently it is unknown if this immunity is genetic or not, but researchers are studying this immunity and the causes behind it carefully.

Congrats to Zombreach for starting the second page of this RP! Tell her what she's won Andy!

Well Heson she's won a load of fame and recognition along with an imaginary car!

XD We've made it to our first milestone guys! Keep up the love!
