Watching the movie Dawn of the Dead '04, how the two characters blasted one another...and there's the baby. They discover there's a bundle of pink blanket moving on the bed...the baby with spread arms squeal that it's alive and hungry. The actress Polly without even thinking twice takes the gun and blasts the child. I thought that was kind of harsh and inhumane. If it were me I'd take a hammer and nail to the head, instead of having its head explode. What would you do to succumb the precious but deadly infant?

Nah, I would have shot the baby in the head if it looked like that and tried to attack me lol

A bullet would be quicker than a hammer and nail. There's also the distance factor. You'd have to be touching the baby in some way while you try to nail its head. That would have an increased chance for infection. Things could go wrong such as accidentally getting your hand too close to its mouth, and the nail slipping, drawing zombie blood, and sticking yourself with it.

I think shooting it was a retarded thing to do, complete waste of a bullet.

PUT THE BABY IN A SHOE-BOX, AND TOSS IT OVER THE EDGE OF THE BUILDING!!!!

I know that. I'll have the young security guy to steady the babies arms crossways with a stick.

Hammer and nail, gunshot, head stomping, axe, rock, tossed off the roof or just left to rot. The kid was dead so there is no way in hell it was going to end well for her, whatever the decision may be.

Go to the sporting store and get one of those skiing sticks with the spikes on the end - Zed-baby-kabob, then throw it off the roof or hit it with a brick. Because no way in hell would I touch that little abomination.

I’m guessing that Zombie or not, some of our natural instincts to protect children would kick in. Personally I wouldn’t find it that easy to kill a baby Z, as a father it would just bring to play to many emotions. Shooting it, while a waist of a bullet, would be the quickest way of doing it and require the least emotional input.

So you thought it was harsh & inhumane for her to shoot it but you would take a hammer & nail to it, is that not more inhumane cause you are thinking about it instead of just doing what needs to be done quickly.

You'd still have to keep a hand near the head in order to hold the nail in place. It's also a slow process when you have to tap the nail a few times to get it secure. A better idea would be to use a nail gun.

As DJ said, they don't starve. They need to be destroyed. If it is left alive, someone will eventually come across the little ankle-biter, and possibly get infected.

Yeah, I would rather have that done than having a bullet hit its skull; from the impact the bullet would take it right across the room hitting the wall with blood splattering and not just the wall but all those in the room. That can cause an infection too. And then we'll have to clean it all up and we don't have time to get into that situation ( which I thought it was a bad idea to leave the mall in the first place). :zombie5:

Thank God there are sides and angles and of course, the top of the head. :zombie2:

The blood splatter hitting across the room will not bounce all the way back and hit everybody. Besides, you don't need everybody standing around to watch you shoot it.

Top of the head isn't likely because you'd need to prop it up somehow. Yes, there are sides and angles, but you still need to be careful. There's still the chance the nail can slip. It also seems less humane to have to slowly (carefully) tap in the nail, when a gun or nail gun would end it quickly. Wouldn't it also be more traumatizing to have to hammer in a nail, than destroy it in a split second?

I can't think of any more humane way to kill a zombie baby. I'd like to be as far away from it as possible. Unlike a normal baby, it just might be able to walk, or run even. :scared:

Keep in mind that scene was included for a dramatic effect, and the shooting was, thankfully, off camera. It raises a number of ethical issues about right and wrong when there is no law, or courts to regulate morality.
If they ban guns, how will I fight the zombies?

With that one bullet...come on now, that baby is bound to hit something. Think of the impact: you're matching projectile with force. Even a feather thrown from a building will have weight. And has anyone seen a vampire movie: how hard is it to put a nail in a skull? You are fabricating things and making it more difficult. :duh:

You are right my friend. That is why I brought it up. Was it right to shoot something, no fault of their own, be taken out so harshly? And the hammer and nail isn't better either, I admit. But it's way better than having it smack a wall. That's dignity too, huh?

I know there isn't enough time, but under certain circumstances what will we do? Will our emotions take over and we wind up making mistakes along the way? What will be the focus: our ultimate survival or play along until we can get help? What would you do with the kid and your conscience? And will we shoot something out of safety sake? :surrender:
