If ammo is scarce, and you/your group had a stockpile and hand loaders I think that would make it valuable, especially if the people you're trading with had limited resources for defending themselves. I know it has no value after being fired, but food and water would be the same after being consumed wouldn't they?

Yes and that is exactly why it would be an excellent barter item but would suck as currency.

I would think that any consumable, whether it be food, ammo, or tobacco, would be practically worthless as a monetary device. Those are barter goods.

Just a thought......

I vacuum packed some ammo in thick plastic in magazine counts for my B.O.B. and it eliminates all noise. Works great.

Just as long as you can open the plastic without a knife or throw an extra knife in.

Can you imagine if your ammunition reserve was in a Rooskie Spam Can and you didn't have an opener and needed it in a hurry?
