If ammo is scarce, and you/your group had a stockpile and hand loaders I think that would make it valuable, especially if the people you're trading with had limited resources for defending themselves. I know it has no value after being fired, but food and water would be the same after being consumed wouldn't they?

come Z day what wouldn't you miss?

Yes and that is exactly why it would be an excellent barter item but would suck as currency.

OK, fair enough.
Bob got skillz!
So what about tobacco? I don't smoke but I have tobacco and papers in my kit.

At the right place at the right time I could see a small quantity of tobacco being worth it's weight in gold.
How is it packaged?

I would think that any consumable, whether it be food, ammo, or tobacco, would be practically worthless as a monetary device. Those are barter goods.

The melodrama you see on the news every day, have to deal with every day and those know-it-alls who don't know anything in the real world because they spend all the time on the Internet, texting, Facebook status as the only conversation topics at lunch, my town and taxes that suck so much out of my paycheck every week.

My debit card, freeway traffic, not being able to find a parking spot, gay pop music, emo kids, being stuck behind a bus when I'm in a hurry.
I can't think of anything else I wouldn't miss.

Just a thought......
I vacuum packed some ammo in thick plastic in magazine counts for my B.O.B. and it eliminates all noise. Works great.

Just as long as you can open the plastic without a knife or throw an extra knife in.

He shall use his manly muscles, and use the can to beat every zombie with bashing distance to death before opening said can after finding an opener.
That would look really werid if some people came across a corpse clutching a spam can in one hand and an empty gun in the other hand.
