You are in your capital city on a Wednesday evening at 10pm, when the Zombie outbreak happens. You come across a injured person who could only be moved a short distance, lets say no more then 10 miles(I know its an arbitrary distance but stick with it).
Where specifically would you hold up?

We have an office with a secure attached warehouse in Capital city so I would hole up there.
I would only have the guns I travel with though.
I guess now I need to travel with more firepower.

My father lives in our capital city and his collection of firearms and ammo could probably give Bobs a run for it's money, (not dick waving here, just stateing a fact).
He is part of my bug out plan anyway, so I would take the injured person there and we would try our best to patch him up.

If I was trapped in London It might sound crazy but I think I would head in to the centre of the city.
My reasoning. The City of London is the financial district and no one actually lives there. If you ever walk through it late at night or on a weekend it’s deserted, where as the rest of London is teaming with people (and therefore zombies). I would break in to one of the larger skyscrapers and barricade myself in there.

I don't know what I'd be doing in Sacramento, considering it's already a zombie stronghold.

I also have no reason for ever being in Salem. No family lives there. My family lives in Portland Tuscon or various parts of Alabama and in Biloxi.

Sydney? Bloody hell, I've been there twice in the past five years. If I was lucky enough to be in a place I recognised that means I'm either in Chinatown, the train station or near one of those military surplus/weapon stores I visited last time.
If the Zeds are just starting to appear I'd resist the urge to go arm-up, those places were locked up tighter than me and my leatherman can open and I don't like my odds if I'm arrested in the first days. First thing would be to dash to a corner store and borrow their first aid kit assuming they have one (OH&S says they should), also stock up on some bottled water and food then look for one of those doorways squeezed in between two businesses that leads directly upstairs and work my way inside where my friend and I can wait a couple days and hopefully fortify.
After that I guess I'll look for options.

The largest town would be about 10,000 people about 20 miles from home, Postville does not count as a town of any value.
I could see reasons why I would be in Decorah though, hospital, clinic or visiting my sister who lives there.

Well I've never been to columbus so I would be completely screwed. My main hope would be that someone else living decides to help me out. I've decided when I have some spare time I'm gonna pick up a book bag from a thrift store or walmart somewhere cheap to put some stuff in as kind of a B.O.B. I'm not gonna deck it out with anything fancy, just bare essentials that would get me by if something happened while I'm not at home. A $100 bag stuff with a tent, cloths, stove, water purification tablets, your fancy $100 surivival knife ain't going to do you no good sitting at home when your nowhere near home

Columbus isn't hard to figiure out. Any east-west road will take youto High Street. Once there turn north or south and head out of the city.

I take it we are talking about state capitals for those of us in the US.
Augusta Maine is divided by the Penobscot river. If I were following the rules of the scenario, I would get that person to the old arsenal building on the east side of the river. It is located between the hospital and AMHI, (Augusta Mental Health Institute) but also is very defensible and has easy access to the water. Not a good place to stay long term, but a good place to lie low, collect supples and get out by heading down river.

Capital city is to close quarters. Filled with drunks and teenagers and backed up traffic. I'd say even making it to the nearest building in mist of a full scale attack is pretty slim. Survival even more slim, for you, and probably impossible for the injured.

Depends on the capital I guess. It's not the biggest city where I'm from. Not even close. If I was stuck there, a boat would be the best bet. I could get damn close to home by water.

My capital city is like California light (Santa Fe) politically so I doubt I would be there. However, if I was i would not have much luck in surviving because I don't know much about it. Like Bob I would have to rely on what firearms I had with me. Not so good.

I loved Santa Fe. Didn't seem at all like Sacramento.

Ok, so I came across an injured person, so they didn't come with me. I would pass them off to medical personnel and get the hell out of that city.
