If somehow, were warned that the Zombie apocalypse was going to happen in 24 hours time, from someone that you absolutely trusted. What would you do in 24 hours to prepare.

I would go buy as much non-perishable food and bottled water as I could based on availability and money on hand.
I would get my ammunition from the two storage caches and then load all the guns and magazines.
Then I would start turning components into bullets and hope my source was wrong.

Firstly, I would ask my wife to pack everything we have in our house that would be of use.

Then I would head out to get supplies I would take both my wife’s and my credit cards, between us we must have £20,000 worth of credit available, plus whatever is in my savings account, I would go to my nearest car hire place and hire the biggest truck I could get hold of and drive on my current driver’s license. (I could try stealing a truck which may be quicker but I’d want to keep a low profile for as long as possible). I would then drive in to town and do some serious shopping.

First stop my local gun store to buy every shotgun cartridge I can get hold of.

Then to a food shop, I would empty their shelves of as many canned foods, and dry food as I could

Number three would be the hardware store I would buy a good range of tools.

Next stop, would be the garden centre, I would empty their store of every packet of vegetable seeds.

Then back home, to pick up my wife, we would drive from our home to our holiday home in the English lake district.. Our holiday home is an old farm house and is fairly isolated. I would then spend whatever time is left trying to fortify it

I would try and warn as many people as I think would believe me, buy milk and eggs, and take the day off from work.

Then I would gas up the car and fortify the house. Then I would go to bed early to be well rested for the coming ZPAW.

I'd spend the time emptying my bank accounts and maxing my credit cards to buy food, seed, ammo and components, gas, etc and moving everything out to my country place.

This is assuming it was a sure thing and there's a reason they might actually have such information. For example my farther used to be the minister for health, if he told me while he was in that position for certain there was going to be a z virus out break in a day, I wouldn't doubt him. If its old friend that I trust with my life, told me the exact same thing but he is a plumber and we had been drinking. I wouldn't take the same steps.

First I would start calling people starting with girlfriend, then brother and his fiancée, then parents and ask Dad and Mum to tell extended family and I'd call maybe ten good friends. The message to all of them would some thing along the lines of this: there is going to be a massive out break of X you need to get prepared for the destruction of conventional modern infrastructure get lots of non perishable food, water, survival gear and get out of the city well before 24 hours is up. I'd tell them their welcome to come with me. I'd also ask them to warn others. There maybe problems with getting girlfriend to leave the city with me. As she is Polish and her parents therefore have a bit of a community they probably wouldn't want to leave. They would probably want to bring at the very least their extended family which isn't too bad as most of them are still in Poland. I'd organise a meeting place with every one that accepted my offer. I'd try particularly hard to get people like builders, carpenters, nurses, doctors, people with knowledge of agriculture and auto repair, engineers, soldiers and any one that's handy in a practical way. I have people in all these categories which are either family or family friends.

The next step would operation credit max out. Apart from buying the obvious stuff every one names like non perishable food, water, maps, compass, good clothes, weapons, radios, mag lights, water purifying tablets, seeds, fuel, medical supplies etc. We would also buy or rent the largest car/truck we could for transport. We would it with tools, timber, cement mix, electrical components, wire, lots of solar panels, massive amounts of rechargeable batteries, any thing that would be handy for building structures, electrical systems and any thing my girlfriend tells me she needs to build a stand alone photovoltaic system.

To justify the batteries I plan on taking a electrician if at all possible and my girlfriend who is studying photovoltaic engineering. I plan on seting up a solar powered charging station for batteries then selling batteries to other survivors out side of my group and charging them to recharge the batteries once then run out. Its possible that they wont be in as high demand as I think but I suspect a lot of survivors would love some electrical power.

Step three commence operation gtfo. Plan would be to head to the country hopefully to a family friend's fruit farm he has with a fair stock pile of ammo, a riffle and a few shot guns which is rare in Australia so that would be a big bonus. If they don't want a community based around their property then I would head to a deserted area with land good for agriculture with woodland near by but not around the actual site.

I would wait to max credit cards until I was sure like maybe on the news, most poeple will wait to long to act, and I would just try to beat them. I'm not gonna go spend 10K$ becuase someone says OMG ZOMBIES IS R HERE.

Yeah I'd probably do that too, except instead of cigarettes I'd get booze, and I'd probably make a topic on this forum to try and warn everybody, but then again like you'd listen to me XD

That's why i liked the idea of reporting stuff stolen after wards. 24 hours of things still working normally so...if things don't go pear shaped I just have to make all the things I bought disappear in a corner somewhere so that if the suspect me of checkbook fraud they can't find proof, and then they have to pay me back with up to $100,000 because of my policy. I'm also assuming this warning is coming from a reliable source I trust, I'm not so crazy that I'm going to run out and max my stuff out because some dirty homeless guy stumbles out of an alley and tells me I have 24 hours until zombies take over unless he has some really compelling evidence on him.

The whole premise of the thread is that it will actually happen in 24 hours time. I don';t think anyone here is stupid enough to go crazy with the plastic because just anyone says the end is here.

You're going to wait till the story is carried on network news nationwide and you don't think that'll be too late? Do you really think they'd put out the word that the dead are returning as soon as they hear it?

You're going to wait till the story is carried on network news nationwide and you don't think that'll be too late? Do you really think they'd put out the word that the dead are returning as soon as they hear it?

I never said a big nationwide story, we would see lots of smaller storys first. It seems to me that it would hit bigger citys first and the towns and small citys should be safe even after it's clear there are zombies running around in NYC. As I said before most poeple would wait for the big nationwide news story, and by then I would be home relaxing.

Hence the premise of the thread. An absolutely trustworthy source tells you that it's coming. If you didn't trust him he wouldn't be considered absolutely trustworthy. Perhaps it's a friend inside the news industry in one of those big cities who calls and tells you that the network isn't telling the truth about what's happening and that things are about to explode.
