Which brand of LA rifles does every one consider "the best"? And which are best while on a budget?

Henry is in my opinion the best lever action available on the market today. As far as I know they only make .22s now :-(. Winchester makes very nice 30-30's

You need to check out the Henry site. It makes lever guns in a variety of calibers from .22lr to .30-30 and about everything in between, .45lc, .357mag, .44mag....

Winchester still makes lever guns, but you're going to pay a premium for them. Marlin makes a fine lever gun at a good price. I picked up a NIB scoped 336 in .30-30 for $300.

I think I misunderstood when he said there were only .22's. Everyone I talked to said if you want a really good lever action with amazing customer service to pick up a henry. I have a Winchester Model 94 and I dont put enough range time on it but it shoots like a dream!

I have no ideal which one is the best, I dont have that much knowledge of guns anymore, but I would love to fire a 44mag level action rifle just to feel the kick of it. I love that 44 magnum sound, even with ear protection.

I'm not overly impressed with my Win 94. My marlin 336 is a much more solid rifle with a shorter lever throw.

I may have to pick one up. My next long gun is an FN FAL but I would like to check out a marlin. Thanks for the recommendation!

Last saturday I bought a Henry lever action in 22LR. I'll be shooting it this saturday. Ive read that their customer service is the finest. I've shot them prior to owning one. They are truly wonderful guns. I'd recommend buying one, as I did.

"The best" is always opinion.

I used to own a Winchester 30-30 which was an okay shooter. I was younger and did not know much about them.

I have a Marlin .357 carbine. Great gun. Fun to shoot, low recoil. Accurate with 357 (not so much with 38spl).

If I had to start dumping guns for some reason, this would be in the last handful to go.

Also what gun did Tallahassee use in Zombieland?

According to imfdb.org he used a Stoeger/IGA Coach imported side by side shotgun - 12 Gauge

For what purpose? hunting? shtf? plinking? z-day?

I own 3 Marlin lever guns. A 44 Mag, a 30-30 and a 22 Mag. The 44 Mag is my favorite right now. I have a bunch of 44 Special ammo loaded for it. I keep it behind the seat of my truck with 2- 50 round boxes of ammo.

The 22 Mag is a great varmint rifle out to 150 yards or so.

I've had the Model 336 30-30 so long, most of the bluing is gone. It is a great knock around rifle.

We've got three, two of them are .22LR and one is a .30-.30, fairly decent for weapons.
The .22LR's are the worst to reload, the under barrel magazine tube with the rod you load each round into and then shove the rod back into the gun so you can shoot.
.30-.30 has the loading gate just above the trigger, empty shell ejects out the top, quick reload compared to our .22's

tallahassee? i dont think thats right, i may be wrong (happens alot) but it looks alot like a win 94 30-30 thats been cut down.

No, Columbus. Tallahassee uses a Winchester 1892 Mare's Leg.

I recommend the Marlin 336 in 30-30, that's a extremely common round here in the states, it has descent stopping power, it's reliable, and is generally a good all purpose rifle, be it for survival, SHTF, zombies, etc.
