Haha YES! The .22lr thread again!
On a serious note, Matt, Marlin is selling their .22lr (700 series I think) which is very reliable out of the box and a bit less than the Ruger. I've heard that there is also some kind of mail in rebate for about 50 bucks, would cover the fees and tax.

Do they make as many aftermarket options for it? I like the idea of getting a cheap .22 plinker now, and then someday turning it into an expensive .22 plinker.

Wow! It's starting to look like the .22 debate in the US&D threads is the equivalent of the NaZ debates (ooer, sounds a bit rude) in the movie threads.

the solution to the plastic mag issues

and I could think of many other weapons that would be much worse than an accurate suppressed 10/22 for use against hostiles . they are great for harvesing game too.

It's a plinking gun and is good for small game. I honestly think you're better off using .22lr against zombies than looters because when not shooting at zombies, you'll probably want to aim at center of mass, and I think stopping a human or medium-big game with a .22lr at center of mass is improbable to say the least.
That having been said hunting small game and the cheap, light and abundant ammo alone make having a .22lr rifle worthwhile. And you can't go wrong with a ruger.

14,000 rounds of 22LR
My goal was 20 but ammunition dried up and I went off on the shotgun tangent.

We have two .22LR Winchester rifles, same model and make and we've hunted rabbits, squirrels, gophers and the occasional rodent that crawls into our live animal trap.
We've got 500 rounds laying around, I want to get a plinkster rifle someday, but if I was going to buy a gun in .22, it will be something cheap, like under $300.
Anyone got any ideas?

the marlin model 60 is cheaper and more accurate out the box. Just not as much stuff out there for them.
my cousin picked one up with a Bushnell scope on it for 140 bucks, with blued barrel. I have another friend who has one thats stainless, i dont know the price but they are excellent guns.

Same with my Sabbati. What you see is what you get. No upgrades to it. All the more reason to trade it in.

Unless the prices went up, the 10/22 is a little over $200 after tax. Affordable considering what you could make out of it.

Well, I went on Marlin's web site and their price for the Model 795 with a detachable magazine was lower than the Model 60 with a tube magazine. Less than 170 bucks, in fact.
Google tells me there are custom stocks for the 795 out there, too.
Oh goody gum drops, I might get a new gun soon. It's been awhile.

Say you go for a head shot and hit someone in their face, you take a tooth out... they're probably going to be in pain, adrenaline pumping, and once they realize what the hell happened, I'm guessing pretty pissed off.
On a side note I think a .22 certainly has its place and that's one awesome looking Ruger 10/22 you have there.

if you shoot someone in the face with a .22 its going to do more than knock out a tooth. I have shot a truck and it went threw the door. Despite what people say on here, i grew up on a farm, i have shot thousands and thousands of rounds threw many guns at many animals and targets. I know what guns can do and see what they can do. Trust me a .22 can do a lot more damage then people think. If you shoot someone in the face with a .22 they "might" not die, but they will be done for sure. The good thing about a .22, you can have a lot of bullets, double tap or even triple tap lol
Im not gonna argue with people on what a .22 will do. Thats why i didn't say anything when yall said its hard and you need a lot of luck to kill a deer. Get out and shoot some shit, thats all i got to say about the .22 debate. Half the people arguing on what a .22 can do, have not shot one as much as i have, and know what they are really capable of.
And thanks, ive spend a lot of time on this gun. ill post another pic with the bi-pod and mag sticking out, lookers super sexy. And this bitch is accurate, my personal favorite shot is a dragonfly at 60 yards

I own a Sabbati .22lr. It's built on the 10/22 action and has a 26 inch bull barrel. The little gun is a tack driver but gets severe indigestion on lead bullets. I have to run jacketed rounds through it.
The continuing sage of the .22lr wars, Silly Boys.
I do have a serious question for CAV45. I was told something about the ideal length of a .22lr barrel was 21 to 22 inches. When the barrel length is longer than that the bullet begins to slow in the barrel. He told me the expanding gasses loose pressure and a bunch of other stuff I can’t remember. He said something about the point of a diminished return.
Maybe I should asking Hitman? Can anyone help?
