Movies with zombies, werewolves and vampires (twilight does not count)
don't really care for the Saw torture pRon or dead teen slasher films, but loved a film called "Behind the Mask, the rise of Leslie Vernon" A fantastic low budget film that looks at the slasher genre throw the view of the killer.
I also loved the film Trick 'R Treat with Anna Paquin

Bumping with my 2 cents....
Halloween is probably my all time favorite horror franchise. 1 and 2 are two of my favorite horror movies, and despite the total ripoff that was part 3, it has its moments as an ok horror movie.
I used to consider Childs Play as one of my favorite series, but I recently rewatched the first one and didn't find it scary in the least bit, or even really all that good. It is a movie that has definitely not aged well.
The standards, Halloween and Friday the Thirteenth are definitely topping my list. Puppet Master is also a personal favorite of mine. Then of course, almost every zombie genre movie.

Trick r Treat was terrible, I hope they don't make another.
I really like tv shows like Twilight Zone, the Munsters, Tales from the Crypt and Lost in Space; for movies I would have to go with Creepshow, Jaws (the first one), Return of the Living Dead, Friday the 13th, and Halloween.

Friday the 13th I guess because that has the most sequels I enjoy of a franchise. All of my favorite movies all seem to have inferior sequels.

The Alien movies, Jeepers Creepers, Underworld, Blade are among the best, in my opinion. I might have thrown Predator in there, but I felt lukewarm about the recent entry "Predators". It didn't have near the punch for me that the original Predator movie had.
Out of ones I mentioned, Aliens is better than Alien or any other entry in that series. Also, Blade II is superior to Blade and just a great action movie in general. Unfortunately, Blade Trinity did not meet my expectations, but the franchise set a really high bar for itself with Blade II, perhaps one of the best vampire, comicbook super hero, action movies ever made.
