So, can you use the pair of katana without damaging? How many tatami have you cut? Do you have the appropriate training? A cleaning kit for the swords? Can you dismantle it?
I have trained with the katana, until I broke my hand anyway. It seriously pisses me off that a lot of people on here have claimed that they'd use a katana, even though they have no training. That right there to me, is the ultimate brand of a mall ninja. I have a katana, a battle ready katana, and in my 1.5 years of training in Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto ryu iaido, as well as kendo, I've cut 122 tatami mats(quite good for the amount of time). And I wouldn't even bring my sword.
Other than that, nice kit.

Gear up, They're here!

Have you already posted a pic of this "battle ready" katana of yours? And please don't tell me it's the black one in the pic you posted above. I've seen that one online on sale for $60.

I'm no mall ninja. I'm not versed with a pair of blades. Not enough to be considered good at it. I've cut about 50 tatami, i don't have formal training, but i've studied under students of the blade. I'm proficient with a katana, i like the longer bladed ones because they have much more arch and weight for heavy cutting strokes. I've built a few katana. Theres a store in orlando called east coast martial art supply. The owner Bob sells katanas in the price range of $200-$3000 and teaches japanese sword art as well. Thats where i get my blades, my pegs(meguki), tsubas (i'm partial to the musashi style ones), same, tsukas, fuchi, menuki and kashiras...i don''t by itos there, but i use tennis tape(believe it or not). It improves grip and absorbs sweat. I've built a few and give them to friends. In the first pic the sword on the right is one i've built. You can see the tennis tape hasnt reach the base. The one on the left is a Rob Criswell blade. I love that sword. Its made of A2 tool steel with a hollow ground blade. The scabbard is made of G10 and has a chord wrapped handle. Its like if swat teams were meant to carry katana, thats what they'd carry. If you havent seen a CRISWELL you should check them out, they aren't very traditional looking but they are badass. I've bought pakistan blades in the past but only when i was a newb at it. Now, you won't find anything in my collection that isn't full tanged, battle ready steel and made for cutting. To me the katana, or machete, or anyother bladed object is a last defense weapon, i dont wanna be that close to zombies to use it. But they dont run outta ammo.

already did, its 5 posts up the one with 3 pics in it and a cowboy hat. I was just answering Kiltedninjas questions about my knowledge in bladed gear. Now heres some swords. Sorry their big but you can't see the detail well if their small or medium.

this is a small straight blade. Cutting blade and full tanged with animal skinned wraps.

This is my katana, scimitar hybrid. Theres a couple in production. Some you can get for $100, but this is the actual battle ready version.

I've seen that exact sword for sale on about a billion of those generic el cheapo websites. I remember it because I thought the rather longish black leather/metal-studded grip was pretty cool-looking. What aspect about yours makes it "battle ready" as opposed to the exact same one I could buy online?
Here it is, on sale at a discount hunting gear website: http://trophys.deale...06356&pid=67925 ...$85! What a bargin!

We have 7 30 round magazines for the AK, and 3 7 round magazines for the .45, I just didn't feel like unloading them and inserting any of them before we took the pictures.
Also, here's some pictures of my sharp stuff, the top two are the machete swords I often talk about, then there's my CRKT First Strike, and also my Ka-bar(we call him William Wallace).

This is the same model as the longer of your "machete swords", yes?: http://www.kingofswo...inja-Sword.html ...cool-looking blade, though. And only $30. I remember also seeing it sold as a pair with your shorter "machete sword".

That's why I call them machete swords. because they're shit as a sword, but a good instrument of chopping.
I don't have my katana here, it's at my dad's, next time I get a camera over there, I'll take a picture of it, my LE and the M1A.

Well, it seems sturdy enough to hurt someone, its a forged carbon blade, fully functional, and has a 3/4 tang. I've seen some shitty pakistan blades and i've seen paul chen and hanweis. I was just showing pics of the sword, not praising it as a reliable, primary weapon fruitbag. As i said earlier, the criswell blade is for that and the short straight blade if needs be.

I was asking why you claimed it to be "the actual battle ready version". Is it any different from the ones avaliable online?

because a few of the others i've seen were the really shitty pakistan versions that had a big price tag but a rat tail tang, or a very loose handle with little support.
If it says its the functional version then it should be. Its a simple sword, its sharp and long enough to reach out and touch someone with a bit of force. Though you're much better off with the criswell i think. But its a bit more on the price tag end.

It's a stamped piece of steel with 550 cord wrapped around the handle. Mine is anyway.

That really doesn't mean its battle ready. I'll take pictures of whats left of my "battle ready" katana. Carbon steel like yours, full tang like yours, totaly "battle ready" like yours.
First, It bent. Notice how there is no curve in it anymore? This wasn't a straight blade to begin with.

Then the "full tang" went out. It snapped right at the handle.

Here's a closer look at what one swing did to the blade, taking the curve right out.

These things you buy off the internet are not weapons, they're show pieces.

That Bushie doesn't have any irons on it at all ?
Seems like the lack of irons, bipod, heavy barrel, and a huge scope would take all of the light, convenient, reliable, easy to handle qualities out of an AR type.

Yea, i know most are just show pieces, what kind of tang did that one have? It looks like it might have had a rat tail tang. What were you hitting? Most blades, if sharp enough and soild enough at the tang will cut through a target thats in its range. Unless you hit something really thick, like a huge tree branch or metal or what have you. And again i wasn't sayin this is my pick for a primary weapon. Its listed as battle ready and would probably last longer than most rat tail tanged or half tanged show blades, if i must use it. The Criswell is. I was posting this as one i have and its specs. I've had a katana break on me that was battle ready. But it wouldn't break at the tang. Or even break clean period. It would only bend, and after much much more abuse would finally "tear" in half.
The bushmaster has no irons, but i do have a dovetail angle rail which holds a 45degree angle that i have a lazer sight mounted on zeroed at 25 feet. For quick aiming, its also possible to put a red dot scope lens on there. The bipod is an easy release one(its not on there at the moment) The 24" barrel isn't that heavy for me at all. I was looking foward to getting the Panther DPMS LR 308.....thats a sexy weapon...

I noticed a lot of you own Mossberg 500s. You guys should coordinate and try and get a group buy on a bunch of SureFire 623LFG or 621LF LED Forends. If and when z-day hits, electrical service is sure to get a bit spotty, and a little light when huntin' zombs would be good.

I want one of those so bad
