Hi All,
A long time ago we posted the news that we had filmed an independent zombie TV series called Lifeless. Two trailers have been released thus far, and the pilot has screened at the LA Independent Television Festival, and the NY Independent Television Festival. We have been getting very positive feedback and are currently exploring several distribution possibilities.
We have just released the first five minutes of the pilot episode for free on our website:
http://www.lifelesstheseries.com
And in HD at:
http://www.vimeo.com/4504093
If you are interested, please check it out and join our community on our website. Help spread the word and spread the infection!
Thanks,
Eli

I have been waiting A LONG TIME to hear about more development about this!
Nothing would please me more then to see this take off! Hit me up with some 15 or 30 second audio promos and I will put it on my radio station.
If I were you, I would say &$^% TV stations all together. Embed some adds, and run it independent. Also maybe add A donations = add free episodes?
It sounds crazy. But your in the bus....
I dont need to tell you how much your going to take it up the piehole from independent licensing.
But more and more people are waking up and realizing that TV station sponsorship is NOT the way to go unless you want to lose the rights to your well written masterpiece. As an added bonus, have station programming managers tell you what direction you should take your plot.
Internet is a good direction to head with Independent programming at the moment before the licensing powers that be get one step greedier.
You may not get the MILLIONS of viewers that you want, but you will get TONS of occult followers that will stick with your show till the very end..

Now if only Jasper would go this direction with "Alive" THAT would make my day as well.
I wonder how many independent series are really ready to go theis direction? Maybe a zombie NSV station is in order???

Great ideas and points Brutish Sailor. We are considering all of it right now. We're in talks with a few different companies at the moment, but you know how it goes. I have no idea what will happen and when - but we are finally getting some traction.
Also, thanks for the offer about radio spots - I'll talk to the boss and see if I can get that going.

I would for sure take it to someone. Your CGI guy and layout artist did WAAAY too good of a job for this tale to go not seen.

The only thing that might hurt you SERIOUSLY if you go independent would be the SESAC licensing for advertizing. As far as I understand, they collect off of video ads as well as audio with sponsors.
But again, that's if your not going through another company joint licensed with this already established.
Defiantly keep me informed.
THE ONLY THING (and this was based off the first 5 minute preview) I didnt like was the "lonesome feel" setting was feeling a bit forced by so much out of story images (parking meters, cgi pullout of the city took longer than 3 seconds). Im hoping the director didnt put all the burden of this masterpiece on the CGI. But far better than most independent filming.
Then again, it worked for 28 days later, and that was a hit. They used less of the "lonesome feel" tactic for 28 weeks later, and a lot of people I have talked to said it just lost the original feel that made it great.

I do not agree. That feeling of 'Desolation Row' pulled me right in. Yes it's been done to 'death' but I loved it and I've been a fan of zombie films since I first saw in 1969 'Night of the You know who'. The Romero feeling of the beginning of Day of the Dead was right on without being a clone...the distant newspaper passing by..But you saw it from above..No "Dead Walk" but if you noticed the paper was there.. I was SO hoping I was not going to see running zombies ruining the feel of death. Really good.
My only criticism was a little heavy handed acting by the guy looking under the hood but I think he is going to be pure food and I don't mean for thought. The other actors were very good. I like the bicycle line. My only real criticism is saying it is the first zombie T.V. series. There WAS one that was discussed here. They made a few episodes..zombie hunters seeing a shrink.. which were on the web, so I suppose technically it was not T.V. but they intended it I think. But very good. Just the kind of Zombie end of days I like and old school slow moving Romero Zombies!

Dont get me wrong, Im not saying its a bad move. Trust me, I have watched 100's of zombie flicks that go in a really bad direction with low budget, and with the time the CGI person put into this, I really hope this thing takes off. I would watch it regardless.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Glad you like what you see. Romero was obviously a huge influence. We decided to release the first five minutes because of the slow-burn effect it has - it's a good teaser and introduction to the feel of the show. The rest of the episode picks up with character and story. We have a good balance of action and gore, without relying on guns and running zombies.

Have to admit I weren't too sure about this when I first heard about it and saw the trailer think cause I watched it on a laptop with not very good sound/picture but watching the first five minutes on a better machine I think this really could be very good as long as the characters are interesting enough.
Looking forward to seeing more about this!

I just watched those first 5 mins, and it looks really good! I'm pretty sure that it won't air where I live, but I'll definitely be waiting for a dvd-release (meaning I'll have to wait even longer than most here:-()
I just hope that if you release it on dvd it won't be just a region 1 dvd...

Bob: Oh there will be guns, we just introduce them slowly. After all, our characters are your average blue and white-collar workers. When they do finally get a gun, the politics and tensions associated with that responsibility are fairly dramatic.
Thanks again everyone for taking a look. Spread the word to anyone you think might be interested. The more viewers we get, the better chance we have at a wide release.

Just remember this;
Many of the Zombie fans are also gun people.
Almost all of the gun forums discuss Zombies.
Many of them have sections dedicated to Zombies.
In certain parts of the country guns may be hard to come by Ma. comes to mind.
In much of the country they are very very common.
Just please don't be silly with them like so many movies are.
Speaking for the little people, some realism would be appreciated.
Most of the Zombie movies are primers in what not to do.
I / we feel if you watch certain Zombie movies and then do exactly the opposite of what they do in the movie you improve your chances of survival.
Please don't turn this into some sort of political statement against firearms.
Guns don't kill people.
People kill people.
Guns are machines just like cars and cars kill more people than guns do.
Does this make cars evil?
Should cars be banned?
Are cars that are faster or more powerful more evil that other cars?
Are cars that are painted black more evil than cars that are blue or red?
Are cars primarily used by the military more evil than civilian cars?
In my town a few years ago a girl ran down her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend, killed them both.
Where were the liberal pansies screaming that cars should be banned?
A two ton vehicle makes a hell of a weapon.
On an average day how many pedestrians could you mow down before you disabled your personal vehicle?
It's not the machine, it's the person controlling it.
If you are going to portray blue collar and white collar workers then portray us correctly.
I have so many opinions on dealing with zombies that I could go on for pages so I will just stop now.
Oh and just for general information I am not a teenager I may be older than your father.
