Say that you must abandon your house for safety reasons or other environmental hazards. What buildings near you could be easily accessed, secured and defended in large horde break-ins?

Ideal structures in your area

My high school would be an ideal shelter, it was built in the twenties, mostly concrete, every stairwell has multiple steel doors that always open in the direction of the stairs.
Sportsman's Warehouse tends to look the same across the country, a big concrete building with a single entrance with drop down metal gates. Sounds good to me.
The restaurant I work at has wrought iron gates over the doors, no windows(strange, but ideal), a lot of food, and buckets for storing water. And don't forget liquor.

Even though it would be a probably warzone in a zombie outbreak, the main downtown part of my town would have some good places for shelter. Most of the buildings are made of brick and concrete, were around for decades (and a lot of them have changed from what they used to be; a hotel changed into a bank; another bank turned into restauraunt, etc), and have dozens of abandoned rooms which could be easily barricaded. It would be hard to get into the buildings without being eaten or shot, but if I could get inside, I might be alright for at least a week or two.

I have found a few warehouses that I have deemed secure enough. A couple of them have windows only on the second story. Most have only one main door with 1-2 loading docks. I'm pretty sure thats where I'd head first sign of trouble.

Most of the places where there's secure buildings would be war zones. Under seige from both living and dead.
I think that the ideal structure would be one on wheels and moving away from cities in front of the rest of similar structures. (A car, motorcycle, or even a bike).

I would also have to say my old high school. It was built in the 1940's, has an underground bomb shelter, and iron-wrought fencing all along the campus.

The U.P.S. store. Two steel doors before actually entering the store. A back door. An entire half of the store can be easily closed off from the rest with a huge sliding steel door. and plus its out of the way.

It would probably have to be my school. The main building has about 3 opening, if I destroy the stair to the library. The main entrance has 2, 20 foot tall iron gates that can close and be locked together. Each classroom has heavy steel doors, as most school have now. (In my are at least) That i could choose to retreat to if any Zed somehow got into the building. It has 2 floors, so in an emergency, i can destroy the stair leading to the second floor and hide out up there (The one set of stairs is the only way up, and down from the second floor)
If the main building deems to dangerous to try and occupy, I can go to the secondary building, which is also 2 floors. I can go up and destroy the 2 sets of stair, and then once again retreat behind the heavy steel doors of the classroom. Each classroom is connected by a heavy mechanical wall that can slide open or closed with the push of a button (In the case of a power outage, they can be manually opened/closed as well)
And as an absolute last resort, and i couldn't gop anywhere but my school, i would have to go to the cafeteria. It may have food, but there are 2 huge glass overlooks that could easily be broken through if a group of zombies where to try hard enough, if that where to be the case, i could hide away behind the large folding wall (This thing is huge, at least 20 feet tall and 60 feet long) And just hope to god the Zeds don't get through, because once that wall is closed, there is no other exit than to open it back up.

I'll shit my pants if this isn't merged somewhere.
Anyways, I'd probably head to the municipal building, if it was late enough in the zpaw to be abandoned by then. It's brick, it houses the part time police station, it has garages, and it's within running distance.

Honestly, there is no really good public buildings around my residence that are good defensibly, mostly residential area.... short of running across the street and busting down doors, only to soon after repeat the process several times, i think i might be at a disadvantage for that lol

I think you should find somewhere else to be in the event of an outbreak man.
Other than my school, and Sportsman's, I'd have to say that the restaurant I work at, the only windows we have are upstairs, there's wrought iron gates on all doors, which are all immediately followed by another door.
Home Depot...nuff said.
My aikido school, we've got two doors on it, very few windows, and it's in a fairly empty part of town.

i'd grab all i could and head to the nearest cave.
there's quite a few of them up here and only about 45kms away. i like caves for the "one way in" factor.
but if left to the urban environment, i think being mobile would be beneficial.

There is only one school in my area, and i have no idea what is inside. it looks easy to climb though. aside from that it is all residential on the south side of my house, and on the north... well, there is a wide open park that runs through the city and a lumber yard. so, i'm screwed here as per ideal structures, unless i want to be the idiot kicking in peoples doors.
i was better off in my hometown as per ideal structures, easy to climb schools all around the place, and they are built ideally, at least in my mind, to living peoples advantage. not to mention all the malls.... and in that city i knew everything like the back of my hand. not so much here.....

Local high school is fairly well fortified already for me. In the event I get stuck in town I'll likely start there.
Whole area around the school is fenced off leaving one entrance inside. Bars on all the windows, shatterproof glass in the windows, heavy steel doors, Metal detectors at all the entrances, gas generator, fallout shelter in the basement is still mostly working once you pull the storage out. Questionable quality food, and working auto and Wood Shops still, naturally with more metal detectors of course... And the resident officer has his riot gear in his office to boot. Yep a fine place to get an education I'll say...
Failing that there is the local cop shop, which is nearly as well fortified. Right along with all the mom and pop shops up and down Federal.
There is a metal and auto salvage yard not toooo far off that I was looking at in the past. Nearby is several warehouses that could be raided and through use of the several cranes and wreaks you could easily making a full on wall and moat set up.
There was also this promising church on the other side of Broadway. Had a helluva nice kitchen, gymnasium and the only window that didn't have bars over it is the stain glass one a good twenty feet above the ground.

Basements...
I wish I had a basement.
The water table is so high around here if we tried to dig a basement we would wind up with a swimming pool.

Then you have a cistern. Perfect for siege warfare.
I found a recipe for Nitro glycerin the other day, I suppose I could make some booms with that from the roof of a building.
