The movie Days of Darkness has these things that arent exactly zombies. They are aliens whp infect humans to make mutant babies and eat to fead the babies. So i dont count them as a zombie. I count them as alien human pods.

Sorry, Not Zombies.....

There are no zombies in the most recent Resident Evil video games.
The world war 2 movie, "the bunker" is also zombie-less.

I gotta say that the nazis in Dead Snow weren't zombies, because two of the characters get bitten, and don't die and get infected from it. Also, they show a degree of organization, and they jump out of the snow and run down targets.

Do they attack only the living?
Are they undead?

Well yeah, so I guess they're just not infectious zombies.

I guess the "type" of zombie has a lot to play with this. All these movies listed as not zombie, could actually be. Kinda like with dogs. Yea it's a dog by species, but a Doberman by breed. You could consider each of these different "breeds" of zombies. In my opinion of zombie qualifications, it doesn't matter if the subject is living or dead. As long as the person is of a mindless state, and EATS people, it's a zed in my book. As far as I'm concerned, biting doesn't cut it. You have to crave and devour human flesh.
That being said, how about night of the living dorks? Reanimated dead tissue, potential risk of eating people. But they talk and go to school. I'm thinking no, but the movie states they are zombies.
Any thoughts?

That's not a good enough reason to say that they are not zombies, IMO. There is no rule for zombies that says that becoming a zombie is an infection. "The people they kill get up and kill." That was the line in the original Dawn of the Dead. And, neither the older version nor the remake actually show that infection caused zombification. The cause of death may have been a bite, but that does not mean that it caused zombification. Anna in the Dawn of the Dead remake says that it does, but she was just a nurse. She had no expertise in infectious diseases. She had no medical lab equipment to prove her theory. I have spoken with James Gunn over at his website forums (yes, it's really him). I asked him about Anna and the cause of death/zombification. He stated that the original script stated that bites and scratches did not cause zombification. The producers changed the script and added in Anna's "cause" because they felt that paranormal zombie causes were too "frightening."
Dead things have bacteria. A lot more than a living person. A virulent bacteria cocktail, not unlike a Komodo dragon but stronger, could cause death. Zombification could be paranormal or supernatural. There are no rules for any of this. I say that the Nazi zombies are zombies in Dead Snow.
Also, keep in mind that each film and novel about zombies purposely tries to be different. They NEED to set themselves apart from other stories. So, you will see more and more varieties of zombies as the years progress.

"The bodies of the recently dead are returning..." Not the bodies of the recently infected.. Sub is pretty much dead right on this(no pun intended).. The bite is merely highly infectious and speeds death. The Romero's films are have some continuity errors the most egregious being the lack of Logan returning.... It is very clear if your dead your coming back.
I have to say if it walks like a zombie and bites like a zombie chances are it is a zombie... Take the Vampire for example... Watch Nosferatu and the watch Van helsing(I have never seen the latter film but for the sake of argument)... Going from the earliest to modern vampires the is a HUGE difference but there is a common strand.
Writers and film makers are always looking to ad there own slight spin or touch or to modernize classic horror figures to make these archetypes relevant and contemporary... That being said there is only so far you can stretch that strand before is snaps... And no Deadspace does NOT feature zombies.

I'm still thinking of how I can make my own version of the zombies for my story. Basically its been established that they're viral, but no one is sure of the origins, or why its happening. I'm thinking of using an off shoot of something out of a book I read, but they're not really zombies in that one, they're vampire slaves.

I just thought of this, based on what Sub was talking about. The rancid mouth of a zed would definitely have an infection viral enough to kill. Going along with the idea that the bite in and of itself doesn't cause zombification but....what of a newly created zed??
Zack is seconds old and you are bitten. The zed hasn't been dead long enough to have that type of rancid mouth...so what kills you??
This does not take away the idea that a heart attack death would still cause reanimation without a zed bite... hmmmm

All I can say would be that the bite or the scratch would inject the super-virulent bacteria into the victim, and then that bacteria would reproduce at an alarming rate. That would explain why Luna's scratch (she was not bitten) took longer to kill her than a full on bite. Some bites are worse than others as well. Anna's boyfriend (or husband, I forget) was bitten in the neck. Matt Frewer's character was bitten on the hand. A neck bite kills faster for sure.
One HUGE flaw in Dawn of the Dead (2004) remains the situation with Luna and Andre and Norma. Luna has a scratch, and it eventually kills her. Andre and Norma shoot each other and die. Luna became a zombie, but Andre and Norma (as far as we know) do not reanimate as a zombie. So, we can assume that the bites/scratches must cause zombification. BUT, what about the baby? It was not bitten nor was it scratched. Also, keep in mind that Andre kissed Luna just after she died and prior to zombification. Yet, even though saliva was exchanged, Andre does not turn into a zombie.
James Gunn did not like the changes that were imposed on the screenplay. He wanted anybody that died to become a zombie. Luna's scratch was a leftover from the original script. The scratch is a problem because it means that the infection can exist outside of the body (under the nails of the zombie). If that is true, then anybody could have a wound (not caused by a zombie) get infected (as with Kenneth's wound that Anna has to treat).
