So everyone here probably has their own plan for a zombie outbreak, but how many of you actually have a team of people to help you achieve your goal of survival? What will these people do and how experienced are they? Can they ever be a threat to you or others in your group? Make a list of your most valued members for your zombie defense squad. Don't be shy to list yourself. Oh! Don't forget your code-names!:)

My group is pretty much a group of hardcore goths with many different skills and specialize in close combat and improvisation.

Me : As of now, I have a map of the city with the HQ marked as well as every major carrier of supplies in town such as hardware stores, gun shops, food, ect. I have a small array of small arms and longarms with a collection of blades and close combat weapons. I'm decent with a pistol, but better with a rifle. A small cache of ammo is on hand for the beginnings of an outbreak. Close combat is a specialty of mine, mostly with blades. Professional training in electronics. Improvisation is a skill when it comes to building anything. Very good directional and driving skills. Ridiculously dexterous and have increased pain delay/ resistance (Example: Took 3 hours for me to feel pain after cutting off a finger. Same with a broken arm.)

Girlfriend's Brother (Big mother F**ker): Skilled in close combat and archery. Also trained in electronics and skilled in knot tying. Very good to have around for anything, really. Intelligent.

Co-Worker(Dexter): Genius. Good at designing and engineering just about anything. Worked for NASA. Pretty good brawler.

Other members include my girlfriend, another co-worker, and two personal friends. All of which are familiar with melee and ranged weapons. Other skills are lacking or not as important as those listed above.

Now let's see yours!

Mine would probably consist of:

Me (of course): Pretty good with a pistol (made a 2" around the Q at a little more than 15 yards), better with a bow and much more so with rifles and shotguns. I hunt and wouldnt be afraid to shoot up some zeds when needed. I can figure out how to work most guns by myself, for the rest my dad comes in. Im also a good driver with quads and other small vehicles.

My dad: He's been a police man for about 30 years. Best shot with a rifle i know and pretty darn good with a shotgun. Good with a bow, not bad with pistols either. Exellent driver and is profficient with first aid.

My brother: He is also good with rifles and shotguns.

My neighbor: He's pretty strong, can hold his own with a rifle. He knows how to make fires and set up camp and tie knots and all that useful stuff.

My 2 close friends: One would be pretty much dependant on me to survive, the other can hold his own but he would require training with ranged weapons.

I would leave my dad at hq with my brother and friends to clear up any zeds that come within their range. I would take my neighbor to search for food and ammo at small local shops down the road from my selected spot. Guns aren't a big deal since we have many (about 10). Out of all of us we also have enough melee weapons ranging from machetes to hatchets and knives.

This is my start off group. Basicly who ill take to wait the initial impact out and after it passes ill start looking for other survivors. Hopefully i will find enough other groups to start a little tribe so to say, eventually (hopefully) we'll find a bigger colony to drift into.

Now I'm 14 years old but I got a group of loyal friends who I can trust on Z-Day

My group is a bunch of athletic nerds. and non athletic nerds.

Me: Can handle a .22 .I have it in the house, with a gallon bag filled with ammo. I know how to deal with zombie attack. Skilled in Horseback riding, I am skilled with medical stuff. I can make a cast out of an old t-shirt, I can diagnose peoples injuries, And I can somewhat do surgery :) I know where major food centers are in my town. Also I know the ideal location for a base.

My Friend (AKA The goat): He is very athletic, can SPRINT 2 miles without stopping. Smart with electronics, Can shoot pistols and shotguns, no rifles though.

My other Friend (AKA the Custard): He owns shotguns, rifles, pistols. Extremely good with guns. Also athletic.

My other other friend (AKA Mr. Llama): Owns a variety of livestock, including pigs, sheep, chickens, and Llamas.(food sources) Is good at hunting and can kill a buck with one shot from his .22

Other friends: useless.

Hm...intersting thread...let's see...Bearing in mind that I'll take anyone and everyone that can make themselves useful in some way I'll just list off some key members here that I definitely got.

Me: Bit of a Jackoff of all trades. Can serve as your personal MacGyver. I'm also well versed in ways to make IED's. Food and Water procurement in virtually every environment this planet can offer. Know my way around a gun, and can handle myself in close quarters.

Pinkbelt: He'd never admit it but he's an all around useful guy when he has to be. Doesn't have the MacGyver Gene I do but he's got his moments. One of the best guys I know behind the wheel of a truck. Decent with a rifle, and well...I trust him.

My Personal Redneck: Certified electrician, hard worker, knows livestock, and farming, and knows at least two dozen ways to make moonshine. If I can keep him supplied in Chew and Whiskey then I'd have an unshakable ally.

My smoking buddy: Godlike mechanic, he's forgotten more things about cars than most people know. Also a very good "Garderner" in the respects that he knows his way around hydroponics. Works hard and fast, and could beat the living hell out of most people.

Got a few others I'm sure of but I'm tired of thinking at the moment

Honestly my team is going to depend on how much notice we have.
If it hits and we have to run immediately
1 Cranky old sob that will make shirt happen
1 MSCE (he is a better shot than me)
1 Male RN
1 Female RN
1 Construction manager
1 Industrial Electrician
1 School Teacher
A couple of children
Oh yea my liberal daughter in law. (bait)
Given a little time a couple of LEOs another computer guy and his engineer girlfriend.

Hopefully we will be able to salvage a couple of doctors via the RNs.
VJ and I both have people in mind to invite when the shirt has hit the oscillating air moving device. We have an industrial construction company to draw on get trades like plumbers, sheet metal workers, and carpenters.
We are looking for a heavy equipment mechanic our original one is too old now.

Who / What have I forgotten VJ?

Are you guys keeping in mind that your 'team' will likely include the girlfriends and parents and kids of all your buddies? For every skilled badass that will be an asset to the team, unless they are completly heartless, each one is going to have several potentially useless tag-alongs.
Let's get drunk today
Let's get high tonight
Maybe in the morning,
Things will be alright

My mother would be useless in an outbreak, so would my aunt...and probably my cousin. Id rather have hope that my mum made it out somehow than to see her charge at me hungry for my brains.

Anyway, as far as I know:

Me: Pretty good in close combat if I really have to go CQC with a zed, could run over distance with average pace

Godbrother: National atheletics team (nuff said). He would be the scout

Dad: Big and pretty built, probably main driver of the team, good with guns especially rifles

Sister: Bait :)

Not necessarily... there is always the role of being bait

Sorrie... again, I meant not offering it but, divert and split up, them being the slower runner... and you know...

No, no... I forgot the rule that no live humans or something?
Ok... my bad I take it back.

I would use them to guard the safehouse while you go out hunting for supplies.

Actually live bait my work... Don't think of me as barbaric for im stating that there is a hamune way to using live bait. My father uses live bait for catching hawks during season and it works as such. If you put a willing human in a cage and then put a cage around that cage that should give the surrounding "protectors" enough distraction from zombies and time to kill the zeds before the cage is broken. It is risky but can be done without loss of human life. Again if you think this is barbaric still, then my sincerest appoligies. However there are other things those people can do such as making food and tending to younger kids. Hell, maybe even good ol' labor to fortify a position. All in all my team would be fine.

As long as the person inside the cage has a handgun, I would have no problem with that. But I do believe that this may have a place in the "baiting" thread.

As for the family, in my case, they would rather find somewhere else to go than be with me and my group. I shouldn't have too much to worry about other than my own team's ass as long as they are willing to return the favor.

Me: I've been able to build or fix just about everything i've ever attempted (the MacGyer of the group, as it were). I can also navigate and i'm a decent shot and have several firearms.
Friend 1 (the cop): great with handguns and building/fixing stuff, he would also fit well as the "gatherer" of the group (i.e. he's very resourceful)
Friend 2 (the hick): Great shot, and he's a wicked redneck so he has a $#!+ load of guns and ammo handy. He would also make a good scout for the group
Father: If I can't fix it or build it, he can. I swear the man can fix anything

I guess the main focus of my defense squad is the ability to adapt to any situation while staying on the move, while having enough firepower to defend ourselves. Between the four of us we should be able to build, fix, and navigate, and also come up with more than enough firearms (including handguns, tactical rifles and shotguns, "sniper"-type rifles, and maybe a few other things). By the way, all four of us have first aid training ad we all have at least some tactical awareness.
