Seriously. With the recent surge of interest in the Taurus Judge and similar firearms, it occurred to me that maybe the hype is well, just hype. I know the .410 well, as my first gun was a NEF break action. I still have it and I love to shoot it; however, I never really thought it viable for anything other than bird/ varmint control. But the other day, I got to thinking: "Well if all these gun manufacturers are pushing .410 as a defensive round..." That led to a lengthy thought process that ended in me hopping in the car and heading down the road to the local feed store for a box of shells and a neat little shell holder and the inquiry above. Well, I ended up with a box of 3" 000 buck and I adore it, but my question is: If one were to get the right load in .410, how viable would it be in the ZPAW for anything other than taking a squirrel or two? That being said, my AK is still my first choice.

A lot of years ago I wanted a H&R handy gun which was probably the first 410 pistol.
The new crop of revolvers I just don't really have any idea.
I look forward to seeing the opinions of others.

One of the guys at work got one of these, w/ a 6 1/2" barrel. He said it's pretty accurate out to about 20 yards or so after that not so much...these things strike me as more of a novelty that's just somehow gained momentum.
I'm thinking I'll stick w/ my AR carbine.

I thought the revolvers they've been cranking out might not be all they're cracked up to be. I was more concerned with shotguns than things like the judge. How viable would say, a H&R Pardner or Mossberg 500 in .410 be for any sort of SHTF scenario?
