I'd forgot the shootist until you mentioned it. I could remember the plot, Ron Howard and John Wayne, but couldn't remember the title. Did Clint Eastwood ever make a bad Western? I like Westerns in general, a few of my favorites you didn't mention
Once Upon A Time In The West
Unforgiven
Two Mules For Sister Sarah
Pale Rider
Tombstone
Open Range
Appaloosa (spelling)
3:10 to Yuma
I've got a thing for old guns, so I've been known to watch Westerns just to ogle the guns.

There is also an Australian western with guy pierce, can't remember the name of it. It was really kick ass

Here is my list of favs in the Western genre:
Silverado
Pale Rider
Tombstone
True Grit (with John Wayne, I have yet to see the remake)
The Shootist
Open Range
Unforgiven
Lonesome Dove
McClintock
I guess I never really got into western tv shows, although old reruns of Gunsmoke and Bonanza are ok. Suppose it's a case of better shows to watch so Gunsmoke and Bonanza will always be very, very far down on the list of anything I would consider as entertainment options.

Yes, I guess the Hatfields and McCoys mini-series is technically a western. Suppose I would amend my list to include Hatfields and McCoys as it was awesome. Kind of forgot about Going South & Blazzing Saddles as well. Great movies, but I'll leave them off my list, only because I'd rather have them on my list of favorite comedies.
