Zombies leave their graves and return to their homes, but their relatives aren't sure what to do with them. Neither is the government -- so the undead are placed in emergency housing while the authorities figure out a plan.

This is the slowest and most boring 'zombie' movie of all time

SPOILERS

not 'really' zombies, just the dead brought back to life. For some reason never explained, all the recent dead (of the last 10 years) just appear in the cemetaries around the world. The graves aren't open, they didn't crawl their way out, they just.... appear. Fully restored and healthier than they were before they died. They can talk, and enteract with people, but if left alone they just stare into space and wander about. Some are taken back into their families. Some are not. They have short attention spnas and can not work the same jobs as before so are given simple tasks to perform. Their body temp is 5 - 8 degrees cooler than ours (but never told if farenheit or centigrade. this is a foreign movie) and they show up as blue in infrared cameras to our red. They do not sleep, and when not watched they slip away and wander up to 15 kilometers a day, the same path. This is all show to us in a long and drawn out way. No questions are ever asked of the returness, like "Where were you?" or "What was it like?", or "How/why did you come back ?" (except by one child who was shushed for asking)

Then toward the end, the returnies for no apparent reason, set off explosions around the city. Then they all start heading for some tunnels (that were mentioned earlier in the film as being discover during some kind of excaving) Some of them anyway, a drug the govenment discovered earlier in the film that worked to keep some from wandering is converted into gas bombs, and they are used on the wanderes to put them in comas. THEN, they are carried BACK to the cemetary where they are laid on top of their 'unopend' graves, As you sit there wondering WTH they are doing this for, the comatose returnees just....fade away.

Roll credits.

WTH ? I mean WTFH ??

I quite enjoyed this French film.. it's been several years since I've seen it though, and don't recall specific details about it. It did have its slow parts but for the most part I was entertained and glad to see a new take on the zombie trope. It is in no way a classic zombie flick, it's more artistic and deals with the social issues and ramifications of the dead returning to the living world. Not a horror movie. I should watch it again to refresh my memory.
