It's a sad time for my wife and I. Our 3 year old Yorkie died from complications after liver shunt surgery. A shunted liver is a birth defect. All mammals have shunts when in the womb, as the mother's liver does the work for the fetus, but after birth, the shunt is supposed to close off, allowing full blood flow through the liver....
