Pets and other Animals in the Zed World

Would any of you deal with having a pet, say a dog, while on the run in a Zed infected world?

Any other animal you'd like to keep?

A horse or donkey would be useful, would animals be susceptible to the zombie virus?

Well, i was thinking along the lines of a Resident Evil type scenario, but i guess we are sticking with Romero style outbreaks.

Heres a good question. If your across town, or in another city when the undead start to walk, would you try to make it home to your pet? Or would you leave them to thier fate?

I would like/need to get home period!! That's where i keep my stuff.

My dogs and cats would be incidental i think, as well as my fish in the event of an outbreak. In my home they would be a good alarm. The dogs, not the cats or fish.

On the run?? I think i would possibly try to keep the dogs with me/us (the family) and the cats could split. If they had to be left behind I would toss the food outside and let them loose. If Zeds do eat non humans then o-well, if they don't then lucky them.

I have a dog, I think I would try to do everything possible to get home, and rescue my dog. plus all my stuffs there, and I have a very defendable place. pvt walls, ang very high windows. plus my nieghbors are hardcore bikers, I can go out raiding malls with them.

I have a hardcore retired cop living next door to me. He's pretty cool. What i don't have i know he does.He makes his own bullets also.

My dog is getting old and has back hip problems, but I'd still take him with me. There was a discussion about this kind of thing long ago on this board, and I forget who said it but they said that animals are also a great source for finding food and water, that has kinda stuck with me since. My dog can smell food from behind a closed door, on the first floor when I'm on the second with something I just made. Yeah, he'd definitely come with me.

Hello everyone, i'm new here.

It depends on if animals could be affected by the virus, but if they were then I would make sure that I keep a close eye on my dog and 2 cats. If they were infected I would try to lock them out before they turn. It would be hard though because I love my dog, she's awesome.

If they couldn't be affected by the virus in any way then I would put them down in a humane way because they would be a burden, but still, very hard to do as well.

Why not just let them fend for themselves? They'd probably do alright.

I dont think I could do that if they are healthy. I have a smaller dog, so I guess hes staying with me.

I would find it very difficult because I love my dog and it would be painful letting go. Also, if they were to fend for themselves (my memory is a little fuzzy) wouldn't the zeds attack the animals. I know that they wouldn't really notice a dog or a cat until they would start attacking a zed. Then the zeds will start to fight back at the animal.

And the food idea is good but it would have to be at the point where you're scratching a living off air. lol
