Default Can a zombie be knocked out?

I was thinking back on the blunt force thread, and a question came to mind. Can a zombie be knocked unconscious? At first I thought no, but I came to realize that I don't really know the science behind being knocked unconscious. I know there is a nerve involved when struck on the chin, and that concussing a brain can cause a blackout.

Now, I know zombies aren't held to many of the same physical issues and restrictions that a normal body is, but this relates mainly to damage to the brain, so I'm uncertain.

Also, because I don't know how to make voting polls, this will have to be an open discussion thread. Sorry 'bout that.

i think this is a very unique thread!

and i would have to say sadly no....you cant choke a zombie becuase they dont breath...and if you hit them they cant feel pain(nerves are dead) so that wont work basically you can knock them down or you can kill them

I remember Chewy-We do need him. I think the Zombie's nerves are only out going signals from the brain that tells their bodies to move or try to move in some cases. Seriously I don't think they would feel pain which involves the nerve sending signals back to the brain. I think the Zombie-Ghouls nerves are like a one way street. Brain to nerve never nerve to brain. You can damage the nerve but I don't think you can knock out the Zombie and I don't suggest you trying.

True !!!!!!!!

Theory of Zombies nervous system= Alive Or Dead.

After death the human brain has energy stored up that takes a month to dissipate. I could see the nerves getting signals from the brain but not sending signals of their own. It's called nerve damage. Living people have this condition. Where do zombies get their energy from. Who knows not I. They have all that electrical energy stored up at death that I mentioned at the beginning of my post. So zombieslayr if what your saying is true then what we would have is not Zombies but crazy people. Because as you stated in you post if everything is functioning then that person is alive. Max Brooks in the Zombie Survival Guide made a perfectly explainable reasons for Zombies existing his ?Solarium? Virus. So we can have a dead zombie re-animated by a Virus or Radiation with just the brain functioning imperfectly? I say we leave this for another topic or for later and let everyone get their 2 cents in on whether a Zombie can be knocked out or not. Unless everyone wants to debate the is a Zombie possible or not topic here? Personally I don't think they feel pain. But as vortec1 said if you hit something hard enough it will stop moving. Just my 2 cents worth.

Gotta agree with you. Some people try to make zombies a reality or something... I can't answer the Q bout knovking one out cause I don't know what goes on behind a normal person being knocked out cept there brain was slammed to hard in the head.

Thing is you might as well kill 'em if your gonna hit 'em hard in the head. So I say No they can't be knocked out. If you can knock out a Zombie folks then more power to you.

Sorry. I've been spending an inordinate amount of time in Second Life. Fun place. Highly recommended.

Read this. The specific quote of interest to me is "Excitatory neurotransmitters are released as the result of the traumatic injury and cause the brain to enter a state of hypermetabolism which can last for 7 to 10 days." If you follow GAR's zombie mythos, all cellular activity has stopped. There would be no neurotranmitters released because the brain is, for all intents and purposes, dead on a cellular level. I don't believe a zombie can be knocked unconscious.
