Default Damned by Dawn (2009)

Quote:
During a violent thunderstorm, a family is awoken by piercing shrieks which summon the dead to rise again. Their lives explode in a blood soaked fury as they battle malevolent spirits, whilst fighting to save their souls from eternal torment with... the Banshee.

Interesting. Looks like it might be a wild ride of a movie.

80% of the trailer looks really good, then the remaining 20% with all the lame cgi almost renders the rest of the film worthless.

looks interesting. i'm a bit unsure tho because of the australian accents. one thing aussies suck at is making good movies. technically, usually great, but story and content, usually bad. case in point, Undead and Gabriel. GOD i hated those movies! IMO hasn't been a great aussie movie since the days of Mad Max and Razorback.

Why so unkind about AUssies? I'd rather Undead or Wolf Creek than Zombie Diaries or High school musical.

not unkind about aussies, i am one, just about aussie movies. i thought wolf creek utterly reeked. it just didn't really go anywhere. and Undead, it started as a zombie movie, not too bad to begin with, and turned into Close Encounters and had healing rain and other horrible shite. i felt like clawing my eyes out while those two women sat there bitching at each other about whatever stupid crap they were while a bunch of flesheaters wanting to munch on them were waiting outside the bunker. i didn't mind Zombie Diaries, i'd take that over either Undead or Wolf Creek. but, yeah, High School Musical, i'm with you on that. i'll take a bullet to the head or a syringe full of zombie blood before i watch that load of old shite.

Not unkind to Aussies at all. My wife is from Bribie (spelling?) That trailer actually stuck with me over the past couple days and I really like the Banshee concept and want to see it. I'm just sick of seeing low budget movies embracing poor cgi rather than finding a way to make it happen with make-up and phsyical effects.

i came back to this thread to have another look and saw the words "Not unkind to Aussies" in Morbidfilms post under mine. for a few seconds i was thinking WTF? why am i being shown as Morbidfilm thinking that it was my post because mine started with "not unkind about aussies". ah well, it is 6 o'clock in the morning here after all. i guess it might be time for me to fook off to bed. feeling a bit like this >

It looks a little cheesy, but the floating ghosts are cool.

Why does everyone insist on using so much CGI, it always goes over the top to the point of being silly. Otherwise looked like a good concept.
