Default are we all going soft?

hey guys,

i believe that when creating a zombie movie, one is limitless as far as material and ideas for gore. If we are agreeing that the typical zombie is constantly hungry for flesh why do they neglect children and animals? i believe that sociaty thinks it is 'too much' to show footage of a child or animal get brutally malled by a zombie. if we are trying to make an unrealistic plot realistic, then children and animals are no exception. are we going soft?

Absolutely, we (Americans) are soft. You're more likely to see violence to wards children in a foreign film before you'd see it in a Hollywood film.

I find it pretty pathetic considering there has been little in the way of any original ideas out of Hollywood in years....just one remake or sequel after another...

While I agree with what you mean, I do have to say however, I can think of about 4 or 5 zombie movies right off hand where children are attacked.

o yea there are movies out there for sure but i feel like zombies are such ruthless creatures that it should be a given that kids will die and also pets. movie makers are to afraid to affend or disturb people. lets see so new ideas!!!

I have seen a few movies that show children being attacked by zombies. Although I don't remember the name of the movie, there was one that took place in a prison and a family was in a cell visiting an inmate when they are attacked. It is rare to see that in a film and I actually prefer it that way. I guess I am a wimp in this area--keep the children and pet-attack scenes to a minimum, if at all. Too hard to watch!

I'm picking up what you're laying down... but to me that's one of the "horrors" in horror. We see disembowelments of adults but we don't see the gory feeding scenes with children in it, either as a victim or as a zombie. I think that when we our shown and forced to confront our worst fears that that's where the scare is.... That's when the noodle starts to cook...

Well said Darth! I can see your point, but I am a softie I believe. Not saying I won't watch it, just that it's disturbing to me...

It should. That's why we watch what we watch. It's all my dad's fault.

I wish I could blame my horror obsession on someone, but nobody in my family likes horror. My friends don't care for it much either...

And, although I don't consider myself "soft", I guess in respect to zombie movies and children, I prefer the industry the way that it is now.

Its hard to say whether or not people are getting soft, i mean there has been movies with children being attacked or being zombies at that DOTD had two little kids attack Peter at the airport, Dawn '04 had the zombie baby birth, and lets not forget children of the living dead. There are examples but i do agree that censors and ratings are taking the genre over cause lets face it people are out to make money and if its too offensive to make theaters these days it wont make any money

Dawn '04 also had the little girl as a zombie in the beginning.

I feel that we do need to be soft when it comes to watching movies, since it is just a movie.
