Default Paranormal Activity (Spoilers)

Just got back from watching it with my wife.

Not a bad movie, but very slow to begin. Not a bad thing if you are a true fan of movies.

I didn't see anything that was close to scaring a normal person, but I did see a lot of what I consider to be a cool idea by Steven Spielberg... Two such moments were with the baby powder and then the ouija board.

The ending was pretty.... "Jennifer's Body" to me. If you've never seen Jennifer's Body, be thankful. The body throw (seen in the previews) was pretty bad ass.

I just love the fact that this movie only cost $11,000 to make and has so far netted about $12.5 million. It only disappoints if you are expecting a constant "BOO!" every few minutes. It's a movie that builds slowly to draw you into the 'lives' of the fictional characters and then the ending is a quick climax.

BTW, it seems that there are 2 alternate endings floating around. One is posted on Wikipedia, and the other was seen at the Screamfest screening. Both will likely be put on the DVD when it comes out.

alternative ending I expected

SPOILER

at the end hubbie for the first time runs off after wife WITHOUT the camera, he ALWAYS grabbed that camera.

I expected, after a few seconds, for the camera, to jerkedly leave the tripod, and FOLLOW down the hall BY ITSELF and down the stairs to whatever horror was happening downstairs.

I went to see this movie last night, but I couldn't stay in the theater after 45 minutes. That god-damn shaky camera gave me the worst case of motion sickness I ever had, which was a shame because the movie was pretty good. I couldn't get a refund, but I got a free re-admit ticket for any upcoming film which is just as good.

I found it way too slow, and overall, not too scary. There were a few good scenes. I caught one of the alternate endings, and it sounds like it was better than the theatrical one.
