Default Gallowalker (Blade... but with zombies)

Thought I would post this bit of news since I couldn't find it anywhere else:

Snipes Taking on Zombies Next
Blade becomes Gallowalker.
by Paul Davidson

July 14, 2006 - Wesley Snipes, recently famous for his stint as the vampire-hunter Blade, has signed onto a new genre picture. According to Production Weekly, his next tough-guy assignment will be fighting undead in Gallowwalker, a thriller to be directed by Andrew Goth.

Snipes plays Kaos, the mysterious son of a nun who breaks her oath to ensure his survival. Kaos is a killer, but his mother's act brings a curse that re-animates the bodies of his victims, and naturally what they'd like is revenge. What goes around, comes around, and soon there's a zombie gang after him. Kaos gets help, though, in the form of a warrior sidekick named Fabulos.

The project is moving quickly. Filming is expected to begin next month in South Africa and Namibia. Goth's last picture (and one of his only, to date) was Cold and Dark, a horror about a parasite which turns corpses to blood-sucking monsters.

Snipes has several other films on the go, including Chasing the Dragon, a drug-crime thriller set in Taiwan, and The Shooter, a spy thriller. Those are due out in 2006 and 2007, respectively, but no specific dates have been set. Snipes's career has taken a few odd turns of late, and while Gallowwalker sounds interesting, we can hope it's not destined for the straight-to-video aisle like The Detonator, Snipes's most recent headliner.
Sounds like direct to video action horror crap, but then again who really knows at this juncture. It could be cool.

Exclamation Re: Gallowalker (Blade... but with zombies)

Snipes playing a role without his black trenchcoat, gloves and sword? I would hope it's good, but he's been making a number of low budget video store films(7Seconds , Unstoppable) like Van Damme. Hope Gallowalker isn't one of them.

Blade is really his trademark role, everything else pales in comparison IMO. Hoping it's got tons of his martial arts fighting and style, as I'm a Blade 1 and 2 fan. Now if the zombies start performing martial arts...

I thought Cold and Dark was decent so this should be interesting enough.

Well, editing has wrapped. From these pics and these pics, it looks promising.

The makeup looks good and that's one of my first turnoffs is poor or incomplete make up. I'll give it a rent when it gets here.

Snipes looks like an idiot in that costume, but I'm going to see this anyway (and not JUST because of the great racks on those undead women).

I'm rooting for the zombies in this one, they're the victims here.
