You know, although we all talk about this flick a lot, it didn't seem to have its own thread... so I thought it only fair to start one! :)
Thing is, I haven't seen COTLD yet... although it's likely I'll get watching it tonight, as I've ordered it from Amazon Marketplace, snatching it up for a worrying 89 pence (approx $1.60) :scare:
I'm looking forward to seeing just how bad it is... I've seen some zombie turkeys in my time (mostly Italian!) but this is the most hated zombie flick I've come across... you simply can't find a decent review of it online!
So wish me well, ATZ-ers, as I endure COTLD... officially the WORST zombie flick of all time?!

There's no doubt a very good reason why this abomination of a film doesn't have it's own dedicated thread.... :D

I hope you survive it Spiral!! I was literally embarassed watching Tom Savini make a fool of himself. I must say that this movie is EVEN WORSE than the infamous House of the Dead.

I quite liked House Of The Dead... in a Carry On Zombie sort of way!

I'm not a fan of House, but I must say that the gratuitous slow motion running scenes of the girl with the huge bouncing rack really woke me up!!

COTLD is just plain lousy. I've had my copy for almost two years, and I still can't bring myself to watch the whole thing at once. The only decent thing in the movie is Savini running around playing superhero in the beginning. Other than that, this movie doesn't even rise to the level of dogshit. Even Redneck Zombies was campy enough to be funny. COTLD just falls flat on it's face.

I hate on this one quite a bit, but I never said THAT. There's a flick called "Zombie Doom" that supposed to be "Make your head explode like in Raiders of the Lost Ark" bad, although I must say, I H A T E
House of the Dead for the way it not only disrespects the zombie "culture", if you will (he put in BULLET TIME for christ's sakes! I nearly shot my TV after the hundredth or so time it happened!), but after that one came out, there's been quite a limited country-wide zombie releases, wouldn't you say? :x
You say you got it for $1.69? Well, that's a pack of Skittles you'll never see!

What's most interesting about this flick (and HOTD, as Stretchy has so well illustrated) is that it's so bad, allegedly, that mere mention of its name acually ANGERS people!

Neither anger me. I enjoyed HOTD for what it was and COTLD was simply CRAP, so...I never bothered to see it again.
Out of sight, out of mind.

According to our own "crap zombie movie" poll (found here (http://www.allthingszombie.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2408)) COTLD is the worst, followed closely by HOTD.

Here's some color to spruce up this thread, and a few reasons why this film sucked so bad.

You're right, all of a sudden, I don't hate House of the Dead so much!
I'm just messin' with ya; I can totally see why someone wouldn't hate HOTD so much so as COTLD; the production values are miles ahead! The thing with me, though, is that I can see through age, and if a movie sucks, I won't be saying that it's "too old" but "just plain crappy"; as is the case with HOTD.
But then, it's like differentiating two turds :poo: :poo: . Just don't watch either of 'em!

It wasnt THAT bad.... but its not good either. Savini is the only saving grace but hes only in it a short while.... and shoots a gun and the clip falls out:-(

Oh my god, how could you hate Zombie Doom! That film is so insanely gory and unintentionally funny I couldn't believe it. I mean a guy gets his spine ripped out through his ass. If that’s not genius then I don’t know what is.
COTLD is just as inept but in a boring painful-to-watch kinda way. I’m really interested in hearing Spiral’s take on it.

I hope you got at least 89pence worth of enjoyment out of this one.It the only film I lent Paul that he turned off before the film finished.Althought I will maintain that there worse out there and worse still to come.

Unfortunately E.I. Cinema gave the movie the lame title Zombie Doom. It's actually VIOLENT SHIT 3.
And I have to agree that Children of the living dead is the worst zombie movie ever made. House of the Dead can at least be entertaining in a so bad it's good way. And Zombie Lake contains lots of female bush, so that speaks for itself. :)

Well, I watched it!
To be honest, I was expecting it to be a LOT worse. Don't get me wrong, it's not a good flick. The acting's terrible, the scripting is all over the place and the production team should be sucking **** in film-maker's hell for the mess they made...
... but a worrying part of me was kinda entertained by it! Sure, it had a lot of faults but it still seems a lot better to me than most of that Italian nonsense that you get! The zombie make-up wasn't bad, either... As the Sarge says, there's a lot worse out there to be seen...
And before we all get haughty about the acting (which is poor beyond belief) we shouldn't forget how unsheaksperian (is that even a word?!) the likes of Dawn 78 can get....
I present Exhibit A - The Irish cop in DOTD 78 and Exhibit B - Some of the lines between Peter and Roger (cringy to the extreme!)
But, yeah... COTLD is a pretty grim flick. Just not AS grim as I was led me to believe...

i liked the bits with Savini killing zombie i wish the whole film was like that
SPOILER
as soon as tom died the film turned crap. there is nothing scary about a guy in a halloween mask growling seductivly into the camera. i mean was that surposed to be scary or sexual or scarerly sexual. i liked about 10 min of this film. i hope Russo keeps trying though because i know he has a good zombie film still in him.

Hmmmm... Contraversial words! But I can't *completely* disagree with you...
... His novel, Return Of The Living Dead had a great storyline - it was just that his writing style was so pish-poor that it kinda went to hell!
Poor John Russo... I've yet to meet anyone who would call themselves his fan... :-(

Even the director of COTLD hates it! Mind you, i havent seen it. Not available in Oz so far as i can tell, and i'll be damned if i'm gonna buy it online, knowing full well, people of wealth and taste say its ultra-shit.
I rented it, I wept and I returned it:-(

It's actually part of my collection. Yes, I own a copy of COTLD. My dad saw it at Suncoast and thought "It's a zombie movie. He loves zombie movies. I'll get it for him." Well... After that, I told him not to get me any more DVDs unless it was something he'd actually heard me say was good.

You must have never seen Alien Dead, Maplewoods, Dead Life, Oasis of the Zombies, or Hell of the Living Dead lol.
I just wanna say that yeah....Children of the Living Dead sux BUT it's starting to grow on me a bit in a cheesy way and No, I'm not drunk lol. I am drinking beer now but the film had some potential but it's not the director's fault it was shitty. It was the producers fault. She was the daughter of Joseph Wolf who helmed John Carpenter's Halloween and she turned the whole film around. That's why there is so much bad dubbing in the film and scenes were cut from it and others were added cause of her. She didn't even know who Tom Savini was lol and didn't want him in the film.
Oh well, I like to watch COTLD once in a while with a few beers in me and the first 10 minutes of the film is hilarious with Tom Savini in it and you here his dubbing lol.:drinking:

The thing that's funny too about it is at the end all the rednecks in town are fist fighting the zombies instead of using guns lol.

Get out of here I enjoyed it. "William Cracken" Or what ever the bad zombie in the monster mask's name was. What WAS his name? I loved the way he would look at the camera and grimace. They mixed a zombie movie with a town scary rumour story. Every town and summer camp in America used to have a 'Cropsie' escaped killer. Here they combined that with zombies. He would look out of the barn and then back at the camera with his big rubber hand. But once Savini left the plot became worse. But he was SO macho it made me wonder. I mean doing flips for no damn reason and his sleveless black shirts. Jeesh. As long as it looked a little like a continuation of Night of the Living Dead I really did like it. I mean they used the same red necks no costume change necessary and they filmed where they filmed Night! Wasn't that chunky sheriff the thief who gets eaten in the rain in Jurassic park? I wish I could remember the bad zombies name. Shoot they said it every 10 seconds!

Oh man!,,, been a while I posted here.
I saw this one a few years back. My daughter and I really enjoyed this flick as we had fun pointing out the ridiculous plot, from what I remember. Some of the parts that we still laugh at every now and then are: Why would anyone want to build a HUGE car dealership in the middle of nowhere and on top of a cemetery? as if there there wasnt enough land around. I remember that she pointed out the visible seams of the stuffed dog on the porch...lol. I clearly remember the main zombie's "Pink Panther" strut... and was it in this one where a group of people escape the zombies bolting out in their car and looking back to see the slow zombies after them, then drive out of town to the house and its already night and the zombies right outside already??? Oh well, I've seen alot worse movies than this one........ and loved them all....ha ha
