Are you talking about the Masters of Horror episode that, I think, is relatively recently out on DVD?

It sees release on Tuesday the 11th. ZAGG is correct as well, it is an episode of MOH.

I own it and it's crap.

Well, I thought it was hideous. It's fairly obvious to see the whole thing is an anti-war/anti-Bush "statement" and that's fine but Dante forgot to add a bit of horror to his Masters of HORROR episode. It was crappy. Actually, I thought it was the worst of the lot.

Now, I may also be jumping the gun here but judging by the sudden change up in packaging for this episode, it doesn't appear he was all that proud of the episode either. They completely broke with the previous packaging and removed Dante's face and sig from the front. The slipcover is no longer spot laminated either. It's actually quite shitty looking and my initial thought was he must have had his face and sig removed from the final product.

That'll look like a turd in your collection then. The packaging on the previous releases I thought was quite good

Notice the drastic package change? Right in the middle of a series just doesn't make sense unless they plan to change the rest and I doubt that'll happen. Looks like somebody didn't want his name and face plastered all over his work.

What ever happened to this cover?

http://www.fangoria.com/graphics/articles/6197_article.jpg

They're trying to market this as a completely seperate movie rather than part of Masters of Horror and I don't like it one damn bit. I thought the current artwork was just a photoshopped, fan made image when I first saw it. That cover is a f*cking mess.

I agree Nem. The guy still looks like Kurt Angle though:lol:

Kinda makes you wonder why it was changed huh? I emailed my contact over at Anchor Bay to see if he can confirm whether the packaging will be changed for the rest of the episodes or just this one.

If it's just this one, there's no doubt in my mind he had his face and sig removed from the cover.

Homecoming has recently been getting a lot of publicity. I've noticed flash ads for it on "Bloody-Disgusting" and "IMDB," probably because of it's anti-war message. None of the other episodes were marketed nearly as much as this one. Not even Carpenter's "Cigarette Burns," which is one of the best, if not "the" best episode.

Pain, I agree that the zombie looks like Kurt Angle. http://www.allthingszombie.com/forums/images/smilies/happy.gif

Apart from the art changing, I don't like the fact that the Masters of Horror logo has been reduced in size to make it virtually unnoticeable.

Okay, well...I jumped the gun on assuming Dante may have had his visage and sig removed. Apparently, my guy at AB says the remaining releases in this series will be more in line with Homecoming than the previous releases. Basically, they scrapped the packaging design right in the middle of the series.

My question is...WHAT FUKN IDIOT THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA?

Probably the same person that will change them all back to the original layout for the boxset:evil:

It's obviously satire and that's great but I just felt Dante wasn't giving us enough credit by making it a bit less noticeable.

I thought the 'Homecoming' episode was decent, apart from the talking zombies. It seemed to me like a satire on the 2000 Gore Vs. Bush election. Dead soldiers rise from their graves to make their point known and cast their vote, after which they succumb, rather peacefully to death. It's an incredibly blatant anti-war statement but I can admire it for it's ballsy approach in dealing with rather touchy subject matter. The first zombie films to deal with zombie soldiers from the Vietnam war were met with stifling controversy. I think it's just a different time or maybe the wrong time and place for this particular installment. It was however more heavy on the soapbox statements and lighter on the intriguing horror story.

I haven't seen much in the way of truly horrifying episodes from any of the first season of Masters. I enjoyed 'Cigarette Burns' and 'Incident on and Off a Mountain Road.' Other than that and the banned Miike episode, everything was pretty subpar to me.

In regards to the packaging of 'Homecoming,' I heard a while back that they were abandoning the single disc packaging and would be releasing a series 1 set. I couldn't say either way about the abrupt change in artwork/packaging, a little odd.

You may also spot the name Jacques Tourneur. He was the director of I Walked with a Zombie from 1943.

As for the "political statement", it was stilted and stale. Typical of MOST commentary on the Republican Party.

I seen this movie at the store today on DVD, it's looks like its a staright to DVD type movie. Has anybody seen it?

The story from the back of the DVD case is dead US soldiers from the Iraq war are being brought back to life by the Republicans to vote for them. Its sounds like Michael Moore inflitrated zombie movies now, what's next "Bowling for Return of the Living Dead 9/11?" Check Amazon.com, it's there for $9.

Are you serious? That's got to be the lamest premise for a movie I have ever heard of (and I sat all the way through Highlander II). Even Redneck Zombies was more believable than that.

The Blind Dead

That's an inaccurate synopsis. The story revolves around a Republican speech writer and his wish that the dead soldiers could come back and tell people exactly what they thought of the war. Naturally, he was suggesting that these dead soldiers would come back and voice their support of the war. They do come back but not to voice their support but to vote in opposition.

It's one of the weaker installments in the series, imo.

I haven't seen any of the MoH installments, but I'll be sure to avoid this one, thanks a lot! I'll pick up "Ciggarette Burns" instead.

Alright, I've been trying to figure it out, but I can't, so I'll just ask ... What does "IMO" mean? (don't yell at me!)

It's a cheapy netgeek way of saying "IN MY OPINION" :)

I would also DEFINITELY recommend "Cigarette Burns" over "Homecoming".

Defintely the weakest of the series along with (and I know I'll get bitched at for it) Sick Girl. And yes I hella loved May.

My favorites thus far have been Incident on and Off a Mountain Road and Imprint, though now I'm so pissed about the packaging change that I don't even want to buy anymore of the series. I think I'll just wait for Miike's episode and stick with the ones I've already got.
